Just a warning, the characters in this story may be OOC. Some things such as your chumhandle will be chosen in the story, but most of those choices will be up to you.
Being alone wasn't something that felt new to you. But this was a new kind of alone, and you did not like it. You were sitting in a room with someone sitting right in front of you.
"It's okay (y/n)," the lady in the dress smiles, "you'll be happy in your new home."
You nod your head numbly as you continue to look at your shaking hands.
"Your new dad should be here soon."
With that the lady stands up, she pats your head affectionately as she passes you, causing you to flinch away. You keep your head down and don't make any sound as you sit alone in the room. Out of the corner of your eye you could see the brightly coloured walls and the edges of the posters that hung on them. You were pretty sure this room was meant for toddlers, seeing as the posters were from cartoons that you had never seen before.
When you hear the door to the room open you flinch and continue to look down. Footsteps lead up to you until you feel a hand on your shoulder.
"Come on, your new guardian had arrived." The same lady from before speaks up.
You nod and get to your feet, you sigh to yourself when the lady takes her hand off of your shoulder. You follow along behind her as she leads you to where your new guardian was waiting. Although you were walking, you only glanced up every now and again to stop yourself from bumping into anything.
"Here is the young child, Mr. Strider." The lady speaks up.
You peak around the woman to see a tall, blond man with a cap on standing only a few metres away. When he notices you peaking, he grins.
"Well hey there kiddo." He greets.
You nod in response and go back to hide behind the lady.
"They are a little shy, especially for a 14 year old," the lady sighs, "are you sure you wouldn't want a younger child?"
You flinch at that comment. Ouch, that stung. You knew that the likelihood of a kid your age being adopted was low, but her saying that right in front of you, wow.
"Nope, I work a fair bit so they need to be capable to look a bit after themself." The man shakes his head.
"So, who will be looking after them?"
"Oh, right, I already have two kids," the man clarifies, "they'll be around to look after them."
The lady nods, "and how old are they?"
"The youngest is also 14 and the eldest is 17."
"Alright," the lady responds, "I'll leave you to it."
She turns around and gives you one last tight lipped smile and walks off.
"Alright kiddo, let's go." Your new guardian speaks up.
You nod and begin to follow him.
"So, you can just call me Bro," The blond tells you, "Being called dad is just weird."
"Okay." You nod.
You both make your way out into the parking lot and get into the car. You sat in the passenger seat, quietly watching as Bro began to drive off.
"When we get back I'll show your room and introduce you to your brothers," Bro begins to explain, "and then they'll take you to go shopping since I have work."
"Okay."
"You really don't talk much, do you?"
"Not really, sorry."
"There's no need to apologise." He grins as he ruffles your hair.
You try not to, but you ended up flinching away.
"Ah, right, sorry kid."
"It's okay."
Most of the drive was Bro explaining things or him asking questions that you would reply with a minimalistic answer. You tried to answer as long as you could, but it never was really as long as you wanted it to be.
You gulp when the car stops in front of a tall apartment building. You open the door and step out, closing the door behind you and follow bro towards the building. As you walk in you notice that the building didn't have an elevator, which meant that you'd have to climb the countless stairs. You seriously didn't feel like climbing the stairs, but obviously you didn't really have a choice. You stay silent as you climb up the stairs behind Bro.
Once you nearly reach the top Bro turns down the hallway, so you assumed that this was your floor. You gulp as you wait for Bro to open the door. Once he does, you walk in and awkwardly stand beside Bro in the lounge.
The lounge room was quite small, with a fairly large TV, a couch and a coffee table. There were also a few other things that were lying around, but you payed no mind to it, especially the weird dolls that were sitting in a pile in the corner.
"Hey boys," Bro calls out, "come meet your new sibling."
