A New Strider (Striders x Reader)

Chapter 14

For the next few hours, you go around to different sideshows and rides. You had fun; it was a great first gala. But, Eridan had begun to ignore you. Whenever you tried talking to him, he'd kind of just mumble a half assed reply and continues on his way. But you didn't want that to ruin the rest of your day so you just shrug it off and begin to enjoy time with Feferi and Sollux. He was quite an interesting person, and a nerd, so it was fun talking to him.

When to music that had been playing over the PA stops, people seem to pause.

"The fireworks will be beginning in 20 minutes."

And with that people begin to make their way towards the lake, where the fireworks would be.

"Alright, let's go find somewhere good to see the fireworks." Feferi chimes.

Without any other words you all begin to walk to the lake with majority of the other people. As you're walking through the crowds of sitting and walking people you hear a familiar.

"(Y/n), over here."

You look over to your right to see your brother, Dave along with a few of his friends sitting just a few metres away.

"Oh, hey Dave." You wave.

Feferi notices you waving and looks over.

"Oh, you must be (y/n)'s brother." She greets happily.

"Uh, yeah."

"Well, we should probably go find somewhere to sit," you sigh, "see you later Dave."

And with that you head off to find a nice place to watch the fireworks.

Eventually you find a good spot; you could see the boat in the lake, which held all of the fireworks. You take a seat, with Feferi on one side of you and Eridan on the other. Eridan still didn't seem to be in a talkative mood, as he had sort of been like earlier today. You simply shrug it off and quietly wait for the fireworks to begin.

"Hey (y/n)," Eridan speaks, "sorry about earlier, I guess."

When you look over at him, he was still looking over at the lake, but his cheeks were flushed. You simply giggle and look back at the lake.

The first firework shoots into the sky, the bright green flashing across the sky, declaring the beginning of the firework show.

You groan as you walk back into the apartment, the plush Eridan got you clutched in your hands.

"Hey dudette." Bro greets.

"Hi Bro."

"How was the gala?"

"Good, tired as all hell though."

"Well you should go get some rest," he tells you, "I'll be home eventually."

And with that he walks past you, ruffling your hair as he does so. With that he leaves the apartment. You groan as you shuffle towards your room. You toss your phone and wallet onto your desk and collapse onto your bed. You weren't sure if Dirk was home, and Dave said he was staying at John's house tonight.

Your stomach rumbles, god you were hungry. You pull yourself back onto your feet and practically dragged yourself to the kitchen. You walk towards the fridge, almost tripping and hitting your face on the cupboard.

"What is with these damn things?!" you screech when you get hit with one of those strange puppets.

You toss it aside and begin to dig in the fridge looking for something to eat. Eventually you find some leftover takeaway. You shove your mouth full of food as you wander towards the kitchen. You pause as you hear a door open.

"Yo, anyone home?" Dirk's voice calls.

"In the kitchen." You call back, your mouth still full.

Dirk walks into the kitchen just to see you at the table, looking like a chipmunk who just found a stash of nuts.

"Hi." You giggle.

"Hi." He replies, his lips quirking up into a smile.

"Care to join me?" you ask.

"Uh, sure." Dirk shrugs.

He takes a seat across from you and takes a hold of a fork and begins shovelling food into his mouth.
