A New Strider (Striders x Reader)

Chapter 12

You swing your legs excitedly as you wait for the ride to begin. You look over at Eridan, who was sitting beside you, an almost bored look on his face. You were going to sit next to Feferi, but you both decided that this would be better, to at least keep them from fighting.

"Oh come on Eridan," you grin, "cheer up."

Eridan looks over at you, a brow raised. When you notice his barely changing expression you sigh.

"Just at least try to have fun," you sigh, your smile dropping, "life seems a little brighter when you do."

When he doesn't reply you just roll your eyes and look outside at all off the other kids waiting for their turn. Your grin returns when you feel the ride begin to move, slowly, you're lifted into the air, and then back. This continues until you almost do an entire flip and you let out a yelp of happiness when it spins the entire way around and back down, quite fast. You look over at Eridan to see him laughing. You both locks eyes for a moment before you both continue to enjoy the ride. Your stomach felt a little turned over since you were moving so sporadically.

Once the ride slowly comes to an end and two by two, the restraints are taken off, since you were closer to back, it took a while before it was removed. You stand onto your shaky legs, your body swaying slightly.

"See, that was fun, wasn't it?"

You look over at Eridan to see him smiling, "yeah, sure."

"Okay, let's go find the other two."

Eridan nods and the pair of you walk out of the small gate, both looking for Feferi and Sollux. You feel a hand on your wrist and turn around, seeing both Feferi and Sollux on the other side of the crowd. When they see you, Feferi waves you over. You tug Eridan along as you make your way back to the other two.

"That was fun, huh?" you grin.

"Yeah," Feferi nods, "but I'm starting to feel a little sick."

"Oh, okay, let's go sit down for a while."

You all decide to go and find somewhere to rest for a bit before you head off to look at more stuff. After a bit of searching, you eventually find a tree to sit under. You practically just collapse onto the ground. Feferi sits against the tree and the boys sit on either side of the pair of you. You lean your elbow against your leg and your chin against your hand.

"Wow, I don't think I've been to something like this in years." You admit.

"Really, wouldn't your parents have taken you?"

"Fef, if her parents were there to take them, I don't think they'd have moved in with the Striders."

"Oh dear, I'm sorry!" Feferi panics and blurts out an apology.

"Its fine." You shrug, although it wasn't really, but she didn't mean anything by it.

There's a short silence before Sollux speaks up, "alright, let's keep looking around."

You all agree and get up. You don't feel too dizzy now, so you're pretty sure you can walk straight. You knew that you had a bit of money to spend, so you'd keep an eye out for something that you could buy.

You leave the once peaceful site of the tree, to the rowdy site of the gala. You continue to look at all of the items, once against walking beside Feferi.

"Hey Fef!" a voice calls out, making Feferi look forward.

A smile presents itself on her face as she waves, "oh, hi Meenah, Aranea."

You look forwards to see a girl with two long plaits and girl with short brown hair. The plaited girl looks at you and raises an eyebrow.

"And just who are you?"

"Oh, this is (y/n)," Feferi introduces you; "they're new to the school."

"Uh huh, well, just thought I'd make sure you were here," she side eyes the two boys, "well, see ya."

With that she turns around and walks over, the short haired waves before following her.

"Well, that was... interesting." You state.

"Yeah, she's a bit of a handful, huh?" Feferi laughs.

"Uh, yeah."

Truth be told, she kind of scared you. She looked as if she could break your arm without any hesitance.

"Well, I'm hungry," Sollux states, "let's go get something to eat."

"Eh, why not." You shrug and begin following him.

"Oh boy, I wonder what I can get."

"I hope the food doesn't taste awful."
