Amber Reed... That's me. Aspiring writer, singer, and.... Philosopher.

I fell in love with a boy, 7 years ago... I'm still falling for him.. Hard. But the feelings haven't been returned at all. Well, not that I know of.

He's quite the jerk, not the sweetest, not the funniest, definitely not the most popular. So, what made me fall in love with him? The world (Me included) may never know.

"Amber!" My best friend, Jules greeted. It was the first day of 11th grade. Was I excited? No... Not really.

"Hey, Jules!" I put on my best smile, trying to seem as enthusiastic as her.

"This is Shutter! My best friend from Preschool!!" Julie said as she pointed at a girl next to her.

"Shutter? As in a window shutter?" I asked, and began to mimic opening and closing a window shutter.

"Yeah, like that." Shutter mumbled, smiling faintly.

"She's a little shy, but she gets loud... Trust me." Jules announced, and began to walk happily towards our first period, which we had together.

I followed after her, watching as Shutter walked shyly, looking around as if she were scared the school would eat her.

It surprises me Shutter and Jules are best friends... They're complete opposites. Jules has a carefree, happy-go-lucky personality, and Shutter has a shy, scared personality.

Well, at least I can have reassurance that my best friend won't be stolen away from me... That sounds bad. Okay, let me rephrase that. I now know my best friend will be my best friend always because her and Shutter aren't as alike as Jules and I. There. Better.

My nostrils flared as I looked ahead to see Shutter and Jules walking far ahead of me, leaving me behind... They were talking and laughing, and didn't even seem to notice I got left behind.

I quickly jogged up to them, and was still unnoticed. I panted, out of breath, due to my unathleticness (a better way of saying laziness).

"Guys?" My voice cracked as I spoke.

They both turned around, looking surprised to see me. Geez. That hurt right in the heart.

"Oh, hi Amber!" Jules greeted, smiling fakely. I could tell it was fake, because I've known her for a long time.

"Where should we sit?" I asked, not caring if I was bothering the two of them.

"Hmmm... There's two seats in the front!" Jules pointed.

"But there's three seats right here..." I gestured at the three seats in front of us.

"Ohh... Well... Shutter needs to sit in the front... She has.... Bad eyes..." Jules lied. She quickly grabbed Shutter's arm, pulling her to the front after waving me a quick bye.

I mumbled a string of profanities as I trudged to the seat closest to me. The seats in the classroom filled up quickly, and the only open seat was the one next to me. Geez. Do people seriously not like me that much? I mean, come on! I know I'm not the prettiest, but that's just rude!

The bell rang, as if teasing me that nobody wanted to sit next to me. Thanks a lot bell. Now I have no one to copy off of either... Did I say copy? I meant.. Uh... Double checking my tests.. Yeah...

Footsteps began to run down the hall, most likely the late people. Heheheh. Maybe I will have a victim to torture after all...

"Amber Reed," The teacher called from the front.
