"Our life is defined by opportunities, even the ones we missed"

|Φ|

GIL and I were walking down the market. He was accompanying me down the busy street to buy stocks of food. It has been three days since the time I've saved him from being beaten to death, and he has been following me around the Isle ever since. He was amusing when he showed his childishness, especially when he was off pissing some drunken men, which always got us into trouble. I've never seen Harry since that day, but I've often glimpsed a certain figure clad in a red leather jacket lurking in the shadows.

"Hey, Erina I've got you some apples.", Gil said, appearing from the crowd suddenly. I looked at the red apples in his hand then my gaze hovered on his face.

"You stole it, didn't you?", I asked him. He gave me a sheepish smile while his other hand scratched the back of his neck. I rolled my eyes at him before snatching the apples from his hand and giving it to some child passing by.

"Hey!", Gil complained, watching the child run past us and around the corner when suddenly a group of large men appeared from the dark.

"Well, well, well. If it isn't the witch.", the man spoke as they approached us. Gil stepped closer to me as we huddled in a circle when three large men encircled us. The familiar brute from last time appeared behind them, his lips forming menacingly as he eyed me up and down.

I clutched Gil's arm, ignoring the brute in front of me as I whispered in his ear.

"Wait for my command, then run.", Gil nodded his head frantically as the men got closer to us. The brute neared me, grabbing my chin harshly as he observed my face with desire glinting in his blackened eyes. He licked his lips, making my face scrunch up in disgust.

"Cat got your tongue, missy?", he said, leering his face down at me. I choked down the lump in my throat as his breath rolled towards my face. The brute needed to brush his teeth.

"You really need to brush your teeth.", I said, making Gil choke beside me as he hid his laughter from the brute. His friends let out a few chuckles before quieting down when they were shot by a glare. The brute then turned to glare at me angrily before backhanding me, making my head turn to the right from the force.

"Erina!"

I ignored Gil's alarming voice and focused my energy inside. I can feel my eyes glowing in a golden hue as I turned my face back towards the brute, eyes narrowing in slits before whispering.

"Let the light follow me
Blinding all my enemies!"

I shouted as a flashing light exploded before us, momentarily blinding the brute and his friend.

"Gil, run!", I pushed him forward, running in a lightning speed. Footsteps followed us from behind making us run faster. Gil was laughing beside me shouting profanities at the brute and his friends, which seemed to make them angrier.

"This is so much fun!", Gil shouted at the wind as we rounded another corner. I smirked at his face before laughing out loud and letting myself feel the air brushing past us. We entered a small alleyway, shoving a few garbage cans behind us as the footsteps drew nearer. Looking behind me, I found the men gaining speed, making panic flood my senses as I pushed Gil to run faster.

We rounded another corner when someone snatched my dress from behind, making me stop. I let out a scream that captured Gil's attention.

"Gil, run!", I screamed at his shocked figure. He looked at me in dismay as I shouted at him to run away. He opened his mouth to say something but stopped before he stumbled down the alleyway.
