The next two class periods Buraak didn't speak to me and I didn't try to communicate with him. In just five hours he was able to learn about my biggest secret and my past. He probably already connected the dots and knows why I don't let anyone in.

I wonder if he gets that feeling when we touch. Or if his heart beats faster when we're close.

I doubt it, I doubt any of this means anything. In a few days, he'll get used to life here and begin to make friends. He'll forget about our multiple encounters and moments that we shared today. He'll forget about his 'promise' and my past.

Everything will go back to normal.

"Ms. Abdi, what do you think?" Mrs. Davis snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked up at her, the classroom lights were now off and the projector projected a passage on the board. "What do you think this passage means?" She repeated her question as I finished reading the small paragraph.

I looked at her with a soft smile, "I think the author is trying to explain the feeling of-" before I continued she spoke: "you know the rules. Come up here and speak," I sighed before standing up and walking to the front of the class. She turned off the projector and the lights soon flickered back on.

I waited for her to give me a signal to speak as she normally does when she calls me up. This didn't mean I was in trouble, she just likes hearing my ideas. She sat in my desk, getting a confused stare from Buraak who now sat beside her. "The author is trying to explain love," my eyes involuntarily wandered to Ethan before it connected to Buraak's eyes. "How addicting the person we call our love is."

Mrs. Davis seemed unsatisfied with my answer, "Ameera, when do you only give me a one sentence answer?" She asked, butchering my name in an American accent so it sounded like Amy-RA. Buraak cringed to the sound of my name coming from her, I hid the small smile that wanted to play my lips.

"Right," I nodded before looking up at the ceiling. "Love is a magical thing, but it can be used for evil. For example," I made eye contact with Ethan, who, for the first time, looked guilty. "You can tell someone you love them when you don't. You can find a way to climb their walls and find out their greatest fears," I let my eyes wander to Buraak's mysterious ones. "And as if it's a routine, you automatically promise them you'll never hurt them or let anyone else hurt them again."

Once again, my eyes wandered back at Ethan who glared at Buraak, he soon realized I was looking at him and made eye contact with me. "But at the end of the day, you always end up getting hurt. The second time worst than the first, the third worst than the second and so on." I ended my speech and the class began to clap passionately.

Ethan raised his hand, Mrs. Davis signaled me to answer his question. I sighed before pointing at him, "what if you never meant to hurt that person?" I looked at him blankly, is he really this stupid.

A few classmates laughed and some stared at him with a blank face, everyone already knew what he did. Summer didn't hold herself back from telling all of our friends, from there the rumors just spread. I didn't ask her to tell everyone, but he did deserve it.

I opened my mouth to answer his question, but another classmate decided to for me. A guy named Matthew, one who's been constantly trying to get into my pants for the past two years, answered Ethan. "Dude, sleeping with your girlfriend's best friend automatically means you don't give a fuck about your girlfriend." Murmurs of whispers and laughs passed over the classroom like a wave, Mrs. Davis stood up shutting the class up.

"Thank you for sharing your ideas, as always," she smiled at me. I gave her a small nod before walking back over to my desk, Buraak gave me a questioning look but I ignored him. This is our last class, I can finally go home. It also meant I don't have to come back here until Monday since it is Friday.
