Merida's POV
I tapped the pencil as I heard the ringing of the operator.
Pick up.
Pick up.
Why won't she pick up?
The tapping got faster which frankly made me get more annoyed than I already was.
Soon the beeping, which was now very familiar, rang again making me sigh in frustration and hang up.
My back was aching making me lay down on my bed.
Ugh.
What is she doing?
I licked my lips nervously and got up looking at the clock on my nightstand.
Father is on a break right now...
A spark of hope rose in me, as I looked at my phone and quickly dialed Father.
The ringing sounded again and I anxiously bit my nail, not actually breaking it.
I heard my father's voice which made relief wash over me.
"Good Afternoon Father"I said while trying to compose myself.
"Merida what do you want"His gruff voice said making me fiddle with my fingers.
"Father, I just wanted to ask you if there's ever been a family member who was a Scottish soldier?"I asked and heard a long pause from the other end.
"How dare you Merida"My Father yelled making my heart drop.
I got up trying to calm my beating heart.
"DON'T EVER ASK ME ABOUT HIM"He yelled as he hung up.
My hand flew to my chest as I tried calm down my beating heart.
What kind of reaction is that?
Why did he get so mad?
For some reason...
That intrigued my interest.
Without wasting a second, I grabbed my coat that was hanging on the door handle and ran out the door.
Tripping over my own legs as I raced down the small path.
The line of cabins made me look for Tooth's.
All of them looked the same as I ran down the path.
I tripped over the steps of the porch but immediately got up and knocked on the door.
Tooth opened the door making e quickly fix myself.
"Can I request permission to go to my house"I said making her look at me wide-eyed.
"I'll come back"I said making her look at me.
Elsa appeared behind her and smiled at me.
"I'll go as well"Elsa said making Tooth nod silently.
"Please be careful you two"Tooth said while looking concern.
"Follow me"Elsa said while taking me towards the cafeteria.
Near the cafeteria there was a gate and we both passed through it.
"My car is near"Elsa said as she took her keys out making me surprised.
Elsa slightly smirked at my reaction.
"Where we going?"She asked while turning her car on.
"My house"I said making her turn around.
I continued walking to the car and got in.
"Ok... what for?"She asked while getting in and putting her seatbelt on.
"To learn more about the ghost"I said while leaning on the window, seatbelt already on.
"Alright"Elsa said while smirking.
I smiled at her enthusiasm and began to think.
Where can they possibly put records of him?
Wait... how come my Mom never answered.
I sighed and tried racking my brain for anywhere were she could have put information.
Her room...
Of course.
She has a journal with all the people she's ever known.
Elsa coughed making me turn to her.
"I kinda need directions"She said making me red.
"Right sorry... well basically just go through the path the bus took"I said as I realized the bus was a 10 minute block away from my house.
How did I not notice though?
Elsa nodded as she continued to drive.
A comfortable silence fell between us and neither of us dared to break it.
After a while we were near my house.
I was very hesitant to the point I didn't want to come out of the car.
Taking a deep breath in I got out of the car and calmly walked towards my house.
Every negative thought that I was thinking about rushed into my head as I picked the lock and entered.
Although I was trying to act and be confident, every step reminded me of things that could happen.
Not wanting to have to stay any longer than I had to, I went directly into my Mom's room.
Even if Father were to be here, he would be inside his room or he'll be in the living room.
Sunce I didn't hear anyone I turned around and remembered Elsa had stayed inside the car.
The ringing from my phone made me look at myself and see that I had stopped at the top of the stairs.
I answered the phone, looking down at the living room.
"You in?"Elsa asked making me take a deep breath and say a quiet yes.
"Good" Is all I heard Elsa say as I entered my Mom's room and quickly scanned the room.
No one was there making me sigh in relief, actually nothing seemed to have changed.
Her room still had that big room feeling that was always there.
The wooden furniture adding to the feeling.
I sighed and went to my mother's chest that was in front of her bed.
Crouching down I felt the same guilty feeling.
A car engine is what made my eyes widen, grabbing the diary I ran into the closet.
Oh my gwad.
I pressed myself against the wall of the closet and looked at my phone.
"Els... they're here"I whispered and heard a silent gasp and footsteps from the other line.
From inside the closet I could hear my Mother's heels clacking on the stairway.
Oh my gosh, Imma be busted.
