The Homage

Many years ago you came to this world alone
Now you leave us and move on to your heavenly abode
People are singing your praises now
Even those who didn't know "who art thou?"
Maybe you didn't suffer
Still you left us without anything to cling on
Only your memories as a buffer!
From my childhood I have grown up in your arms
That day I did not know that very soon you will be covered in garlands!

Still I don't want you to cling on
For people say its unfair to hold on to those who have gone:
You were my "Thammam" and will always be
Only if you could have seen the things that would be done by me
Very fond and proud you were of us
Leaving an empty space in our hearts! You went away;
Only if you would have given us a chance
On this auspicious day
We request you to accept our humble offerings
All our prayers please do accept and have a peaceful afterlife we pray:
Stay happy in your heavenly abode
While we  keep contented with your  memories alone.
With this I keep my pen aside
Along with a few tears I bid you goodbye
For one last time....
