Five ten am
After parking the mobile I close the garage and make my way back to The Hole. I notice three men close by the door and hesitate to walk closer.
They stop their conversation and look up at me. My stomach tightens not knowing what to do next.
"Is this your place?" One asks, he's wearing a black beanie, army green cargos and a white tank. I take a few steps back but they slowly walk towards me.
"Where you going?" Another one asks.
"Listen I just want to go home, let me go home." I say slowly putting my hands up.
I'm not going to win this fight nor do I have the energy. I don't know what they want but they're not getting it.
"You should stay with us, just relax." The first one says as they get closer.
This might be a horrible idea but I do it anyways, I run.
As fast as I can down the alley away from them.
"Come on get her!" One yells and I can hear them sprinting behind me.
Not even a moment later one tugs on my hair pulling me back.
Stumbling on my feet I fall back into a small puddle, soaking my back. The men surround me. I quickly try to get to my feet but I am kicked down by the one in the beanie. He pulls out a pocket knife and points it at me.
"Say a word and we kill you on the spot." Another says, he has a scare across his left cheek. I have a feeling they were gonna kill me anyway. Keeping quiet I try to get up again but get a fist right in the face. I spite my blood to the side and begin screaming.
"Help, help!" I yell to the top of my lungs. The men pick me up and I kick as hard as I can. I'm not dying tonight, not tonight. One holding me from my pits and the other by my legs. I continue kicking getting him right in the jaw.
"Damn it." He groans dropping me, I keep fighting though.
The man with the beanie walks over to me cutting my arm with the blade.
"Shut. Up." He says sternly pointing the blade with my blood in my face.
I squint my eyes and move my head away in hopes he wouldn't cut my face. I can feel my blood boiling, are they gonna kill me or not. I gather up my saliva and look at him straight in the eyes. I chuckle and without another thought I spite on his face. Kicking behind me I get the last man right between his legs. He lets me go but I have no time to run. My ear and is greeted so hard with his fist that it knocks me to the ground. I can feel blood run down my ear as it rings. They don't stop there though. Kicks and punches come in contact with every part of my body. Their yelling but it all sounds like it's underwater. I never quite understood why people do what they do. Why they hurt others to bring themselves up, to feel strong. My eyes fill with tears not only because of the pain but because of what I'd be leaving behind if I left this world tonight. This cold world filled with unheard innocent people. So wrapped within my thoughts I don't even realize the men have stopped. I open my eyes to see that they are fighting something else but it's all a blur. I try to pick myself up to get to my feet, but excruciating pain flows through out my body and I fall right back on the ground. I can feel my body giving up.
"Not tonight, not tonight." I whisper to myself. Laying still in a fetus position I begin to sob. Never in my seventeen years of living did I think I would be in this predicament and it breaks my heart. A gun shot goes off and I wince thinking it was aimed to me. I can feel hands slide under my knees and around my back, picking me up from the ground. A familiar fresh soap like sent fills my nose, it's Levi. I release all the tension in my body and cave into his chest. His heart is beating extremely fast.
"It's okay, you're okay, you're safe." He says breathlessly, and for the first time in a while I feel safe.
