"Well done, my son." Odin's voice echoed off the golden walls of the throne room. "You have recaptured Loki so that he may serve his punishment."
"I have indeed, father." Thor glanced back only briefly as the guards shoved Loki and Sybil forward.
She scowled in distaste for the harsh prodding but didn't shove back; it would only make things worse. The Allfather's single eye fell onto her. "And who is this, child?"
"Child?" She growled and glared. "I am not-"
A harsh smack shut her up and she swore Loki had an amused smirk on his face, though she didn't dare look at him after that. The new ringing in her head wasn't helping the motion sickness from the bifrost. Odin's stare told her he wasn't pleased by her outburst but he simply moved on as if nothing had happened; not something he'd repeat if she did it again.
"Thor, why have you brought Midgardians here? Can they not handle their own criminals anymore?"
She saw Valda's slightly disoriented gaze focus sharply at the condescending tone, though to her disappointment the blonde didn't speak up. "I would've liked to see her get hit in the back of the head... Why's this king guy have to be so all mighty about himself anyway?"
"Sybil is no longer mortal thanks to Loki's tampering and as such I deemed it necessary that she be brought here for your judgement. She has sided with Loki and killed one of my friends, my teammates, in an attempt to put Loki in a place of power." Thor gestured to Valda. "This is Valda, a former friend of the prisoner in question. She is merely here to watch."
The room fell silent for a moment as Odin leaned on one hand, accessing the situation, before finally straightening. "Very well. She may stay for the trial... Guards, bring the prisoners before me."
She tried to avoid the expected shove from behind but the guards weren't about to miss out on pushing either of them while they had the chance and she stumbled forward. Once they were at the base of the throne, she was forced into a kneeling position- an attempt to make her feel even more powerless than she already was... Overkill on the Asgardian's part really. Loki didn't seem to mind. A quick glance at him told her he was perfectly relaxed... The fact he was like that probably meant he'd be throwing her under the bus or something soon enough.
"You have both been accused of heinous crimes against the realm of Midgard." Odin spoke once more, this time standing to loom over them even more. "Loki, you have been proved guilty of conspiring against the Allfather, your brother, and waging a war against a realm for a petty reason of wishing to be a king. Now, you are also being accused of changing mortals into hybrids of other realms through experimentations and dark magic... Do you have anything to say for that?"
Sybil tensed as Loki slowly raised his head to stare at Odin. He gave a small grin and shook his head. "I have nothing to say to the likes of you."
Odin stared momentarily at his adoptive son before turning his attention back to Sybil. "You willingly helped Loki, a known war criminal on your realm, even you were an unwilling participant in his experiments and saw the results of previous ones, correct? Then, you played a role in the death of-"
"Steve Rogers, Captain America... Leader of the Avengers." Thor finished for the old man.
The Allfather nodded. "What have you to say for these accusations?"
"I wish I could've done more." She laughed slightly at the end before being jerked to her feet by the guard in preparation for their next orders.
"Take them to the dungeons. Make sure this time they can't escape, I want a guard watching at all times."
And just like that, Sybil found herself trapped in a plain cell with yellow-orange energy shield to prevent escape. Loki's cell- she jealously saw- at least had books and items in it so he wasn't bored, though that obviously hadn't stopped him from breaking out before. Meanwhile her cell was barren just like the other occupied cells full of strange alien looking creatures and a few human like prisoners she assumed were Asgardians.
Valda came to a stop in front of her cell. "I guess this is it then... I'll always remember the good times we had before all of this you know."
Sybil stared at her before finally turning her back to the other female. "Don't worry... I'll escape. This will not be the last you see of me..."
Valda's footsteps faded away as the girl left while Sybil was left imprisoned for her crimes...
Well this is all for the rewrite! I hope you enjoyed it! The original book did have a sequel and while I don't plan on rewriting that, I will consider putting that into the list of upcoming stories and rewrites if enough readers are interested!
