(A/N: HEYYYYY GUUUYYYSS I'm so sorry for the wait, it's been weird and I have moved n stuff from where all my friends are and yeah...it's depressing. Anyways, BACK TO THE STORY ENJOY! ~Lauren)
I woke up, my leg burning like crazy. I wondered when I was actually going to tell someone. (A/N: the leg thing is probably getting old, I apologize ~Lauren) I heard rustling outside and saw Cassy writing a message in the ground. She was probably leaving. I got back in my tent and stretched. I wasn't very tired, so I didn't go back to sleep. When I was certain that she had left, I went out of the tent. I flattened my hair as best as I could and I put it up in a ponytail.
I heard more rustling and Hunter came out of his tent. I smiled, slightly and he ran his fingers through his curly, dark brown hair. I went back in my tent and got my backpack and put my orange hat on. (A/N: to be seriously honest, I forgot my character had a hat......~Lauren) I went out of the tent, my hat strings flopping around everywhere. He saw me and grinned.
"Hey, Blush Girl!" He said, playfully. He's been calling me that since we met. I laughed a little and saw that no one was awake.
"I have a name, you know..." I said.
"I know..." He quickly changed the subject. "C'mon, I have something to show you!" I nodded, chuckling and I grabbed my backpack. I put it on my back and walked over to Hunter. He grabbed my hand and led me through the forest, his backpack on his back and his knife in hand.
He dragged me through the forest and I grabbed out one of my daggers from my bag.
"Where're you taking me?"
"It's a surprise I can't tell you!"
I groaned. I wasn't a big fan of waiting for a surprise.
He took me to a cave. It was a big one.
I gazed into it, lost in thought.
"Woah." Was all I could say.
He chuckled and mumbled something under his breath about me being adorable.
I blushed and punched his arm, lightly. He laughed and blushed, realizing I had heard him. We walked into the cave and he took me to a part of the cave, about 5 minutes in, and we climbed up to a grassy area. There was flowers around and we sat down on a log that was put there. We were looking through a hole in the cave, leading to the open world and it was a beautiful sight.
"Woah." I said again.
He laughed. "Do you like it?" I nodded, grinning. I ruffled his hair, playfully.
"Good boy." I said.
He laughed again. "Am I your dog, now?"
I nodded. "Yup!"
We laughed until our ribs hurt.
It was an inside joke between us.
We sighed and I leaned on his arm the slightest bit.
He looked at my leg and he saw the bulge from the bandage. He pointed to my leg.
"What's on your leg?"
I sighed. "I guess I can't hide this forever. Well, I kinda maybe broke my leg when I was running away from my uncle who had turned."
"When was this?"
"Two weeks ago, I think."
"Oh. What happened?"
"It's a long story..."
"Oh okay."
"I'll tell you later, okay?"
"Okay." He smiled. He beckoned for me to roll up the leg sleeve. I rolled it up and I looked at the slightly bloody bandage.
He looked at me. "My dad was a doctor and he taught me a bunch of medical stuff, so do you mind?"
I shook my head. "N-not at all." I said, my voice quivering a little. I knew what this meant.
He patted my head. "Don't worry, this won't hurt that much!"
At least he was honest. He pulled off his backpack and took out another satchel-looking bag from inside. He opened it and grabbed out a roll of bandages and rubbing alcohol and a piece of cloth. He carefully un-wrapped the bandage from my leg and it showed a purplish, swollen, bleeding leg. It grossed me out. I sighed, embarrassed.
He sensed my embarrassment and smiled. "It's okay! I've done these before, it'll only take a few minutes." I nodded, smiling a little. He took out a pair of tweezers and pulled out splinters from my leg. I winced and shut my eyes, tight. It hurt.
He took out a bottle of water and poured it over my leg and put rubbing alcohol over the bleeding spots, to disinfect it. I winced some more and he wrapped the bandage around my leg again. "All done!" He said. I grinned and hugged him. "Thanks!"
He hugged back and said, "No problem, Blush Girl." I smiled and pulled away, patting his hair. He chuckled.
We sat there in silence for a while, not wanting to move.
We saw it was getting a little dark and he broke the silence.
"We should probably be getting back." I nodded. I quickly poked his arm and started to limp and climb down out of the cave. He soon followed after and I accidentally scraped my elbow on a rock, but ignored it.
We ran all the way to the camp.
What we come back to is terrifying.
There's about 30-40 zombies attacking.
There was only Harvey, Cassy, and that one guy, Mason. I didn't see where Jo was. I ran over to Cassy.
"What's going on?!" I said, confused.
Hunter left my side and ran to Harvey asking a few questions.
"I went for a walk this morning. Mason went to find me. We talked. We heard a noise. We got attacked. One had a knife and hit my shoulder. There are probably more than 30 of them."
My eyebrows shot up in surprise. I leaned in close and asked, "What did you guys talk about?"
She chuckled and then winced. I looked at her. Is she okay?
"I'll tell you later."
The Undead were closing in on us.
"Lilly, go get a weapon, we need everybody fighting!"
"
I nodded and ran to my backpack, of which I lazily thrown beside my tent. I grabbed out my special twin knives. They were my best ones and I don't plan on losing this fight. Well, not today, at least. I went a few feet from Mason and we quickly discussed a game plan.
"Okay, you take the ones that go near Cassy, I'll protect both of you?" I ask. He nods, smiling.
"Yeah." We both nod. We hear Cassy yell and we watch her run towards us.
"What happened? Are you okay?" I asked, quietly. I don't think she heard me. Mason asks the question a little louder than me so she could hear him.
"Are you okay?"
"I've been better." She shrugged with her left shoulder.
"Careful, Cassy. Don't strain your shoulder or you won't be able to fight for a while." I cautioned.
She groaned. "Ugh!" I chuckled.
The Undead were attacking Hunter. I heard him yell out for me. I looked at Cassy and she mouthed, "Go". I modded and ran to where I heard him.
He was killing many with his bow and arrows. I quickly stabbed one that came right behind him. He looked at me. "Thanks, Lilly." I nodded, smiling. He smiled and I gave him one of my daggers I always kept in my belt loop. He nodded a, "thanks" and stabbed one from behind me.
I heard the yelling of Jo.
Great, everyone's here.
Where is my brother?
