1 Week Later
This was a busy day. The carpenter agreed to build my 5 bee homes and 5 small bee chambers. He also agreed to work with the blacksmith in order to create the comb like structure so that the queen and honey have something to grow on. It will cost $700 because of the comb's difficult design. The seamstress prepared 6 bee suits for $300 in total. I also added jars, wires, employee salary and syrup to the estimate making it a total of $2000. I want to pay my workers well to keep loyalty. I won't use all the money since some of it will be saved up for emergencies instead of asking my grandfather for money.
I am here looking at my grandfather who is viewing my estimate. He nods and says, " I found 4 men. They are mentally scarred from war and haven't been able to get accustomed to civilian life. They are married and have children. The silver haired man is named Max, he is from the silver wolf tribe, but during the war his ears and tails were cut off. He has stayed in the village with his family as a farmer. He turns violent when he sees blood. He almost killed his family a couple months back, so I have him under watch.
The brown haired man, Jin, is from the Bear tribe and he hasn't been the same ever since he lost both his brothers in the war. He also lost his right eye. He is a calm man, but he has tried to commit suicide at least twice. His family keeps constant watch over him.
The Elf, Alex, was captured during war by the humans and tortured. He was part of the artillery department so they cut his two index fingers. He tried shooting arrows with his left hand, but failed. He is now depressed and his family worries about him. No significant problems have occurred.
The Dwarf, Marcus, lost his only son to the war. He still has daughters, but his son was his pride and joy. He spends the majority of time drinking now.
They are your four workers. They are all close to living on the street do to not having money. Don't get me wrong, these men were the best I ever met, but the war messes with people.Acceptable?"
I nod, "Yes, I'll take good care of them and hopefully with them we can build something together. Are they here now?"
He nods and says with a commanding voice, "come in!"
In came the 4 men and saluted my grandfather. I can tell the Dwarf is drunk from how he is swaying. My grandfather spoke, "This is your new boss and my grandson. You are under his command since he is your employer, understand?!"
They all nodded and my grandfather sent me a signal. I stand forward and looked into their eyes, "Life is a constant bitch isn't it? The more you give the more it takes away. Then you try to get up only to feel an enormous block over you that can't be moved. Then one day you simply grow tired of trying to move the block and grow complacent and settle down in the hell that you are now.' I said while looking at them. The Dwarf, Marcus was ready to jump me, but Didn't do to my grandfather.
I continue, "But the only way to get past that obstacle is to crush it. So we are going to build a weapon together. The weapon will be the company. Using that weapon we will destroy all obstacles and recover some of what we lost. So that we can stand with our families and be proud of what we have built together! Look around you, these men are in a similar hell to where you are. I don't need to know you to figure that out. Some of you even look desperate. However, I want us to support each other and together fight through it!..." I stay silent and give them a minute to let the words sink through. Even Marcus calmed down. I then open my mouth. "All the gear will be ready tomorrow, so meet me at the old tree in front of the Carpenter's home tomorrow at 1900. Any questions?" I look at them, but they shake their heads. I smile, "Cheer up! We are building a company! On that note welcome to The Hope Company. It's never too late my friends, always have hope!" I picked the name out after finding out their situation. It's cheesy, but I really want to help them. They nod and left.
