Olivia:

As I stretched out across my bed, a yawn escaped my mouth. I felt the bed expecting to see Shayne but I only felt the bed. I looked over and saw the empty space next to me. He must've gone home. Usually he'd stay the night but sometimes like last night he would go home because he didn't want to disturb me. Shayne liked to think that I didn't know that he carried me to bed every time and kissed me goodnight but I woke up while he was doing it once and had to pretend to be asleep so he wouldn't notice. Luckily he left a note on the nightstand like he usually does when he doesn't stay the night. I picked up the sticky note from the nightstand and began to read.

Olivia,

You looked so peaceful and I didn't want to wake you so I slipped out. See you soon.

Love,
Shayne

I smiled after reading the note. I stretched some more before finally getting up and going to the bathroom. Once I turned the shower on, I slipped out of my clothes and hopped in. The warm water felt good as it hit my skin and ran down my body. I finished soaping up and rinsed off before stepping out of the shower. I grabbed a towel and dried off before making my way over to my dresser to put on clothes for the day. I shimmied into some jeans and a black t-shirt. Right as I slipped a jacket over my head there was a knock at my door. I glanced at the clock and saw that it was only 9:30 a.m. I wonder who that could be. I went over to the door and looked through the peephole. On the other side I saw Shayne standing there with coffee and a Dunkin Donuts box in his hands. I opened the door and smiled.

"Told you I'd see you soon" He said smirking.

"Is that for me?" I said pointing at the cup of coffee.

"Caramel iced coffee, just like you like" Shayne said holding it out.

I took the cold cup and gave him a quick side hug before letting him in. He set the box down on the dining room table before sitting down on one of the chairs.

"So how did you sleep?" He asked.

I took a sip of my coffee to wake me up more before I responded.

"Good, I missed you when I woke up though" I said.

"You were snoring so loudly, I would've never been able to sleep" He joked.

"As if" I scoffed walking to the table.

I opened the box and saw donuts like I expected.

"They didn't have the strawberry ones today?" I asked.

"Sorry, they were all sold out this morning, I got your second favorite though" Shayne said.

"I can see that" I said holding up a cinnamon apple donut.

"So what's on the agenda for today?" He asked grabbing a glazed donut.

"Well I don't have be in to the office until three soooo..." I trailed off.

"I know this great morning market near here that has the best fresh mangos" He offered.

"That sounds promising" I said chuckling.

"Let me go to the bathroom real quick and then we'll go" He said getting up.

I took another bite of my donut when my phone began to ring. I answered the phone while Shayne went to the bathroom.

"Hey Ian" I said casually.

"I have some bad news" Ian replied solemnly.

"What's wrong?" I asked confused.

Ian explained what was going on for a minute or so. The news was certainly not good. After the conversation I said goodbye and hung up. Shayne came out of the bathroom while I placed my half eaten donut back in the box.

"Babe you alright? You look worried" He said coming over to me.

"Shayne..." I said slowly.

"What is it Liv?" He asked placing my hands in his.

"We don't have a job anymore" I said.

"What are you talking about?" He asked clearly confused.

"Defy Media shut down" I said.

"Guess we'll have to check a raincheck on those mangos" Shayne said nervously laughing.
