Chapter 8

Olivia:

After I left Shayne's place I agreed to meet up for lunch with my friend Rosa. I had something to give her anyway. After we sat down and ordered our food I opened my purse.

"Here you go" I said handing the test to Rosa.

"Thanks, I didn't want to buy it myself in case something happened, John would be so disappointed" She said thanking me.

"I understand" I said reassuring her.

Rosa slid the test into her purse for later. The waiter returned and placed our food in front of us before leaving again.

"So how's life?" She asked.

"Pretty good" I said.

"Are you still working at Smosh?" Rosa said.

"Yeah but right now we're trying to find a new host" I explained.

"Oh, so what about you and Shayne?" She asked switching the subject.

"We're good" I replied.

"Is it everything you hoped it would be?" She asked.

"Yes, he's amazing and genuinely understands me" I said.

"I still can't believe I haven't met him, I'm one of your closest friends" She said.

"I've been busy?" I offered up as an excuse.

"Now that I think about it, none of us have met him, only seen him in your videos" Rosa pointed out.

"That's not-" I was about to say.

Then I realized it kinda was true. Sure Shayne and I have hung out in public and with people. But the people are usually always Keith, Noah, Courtney, Damien or Ian. I never realized that we didn't really know much about each other's friends outside Smosh.

"Sorry" I said with a cheesy smile.

"That settles it, tonight John and I are going to dinner and you guys are going to join us" She said.

"What if we had plans?" I asked.

"Cancel them, I can't wait to meet him' Rosa said.

Time skip...

"Hey babe, how was lunch?" Shayne said as I walked in the door.

"Good" I said shutting the door.

"Talk about anything interesting?" He asked.

"Interesting?" I asked confused.

"Uh nothing never mind, we still on for movie night tonight?" He asked.

"Change of plans" I said.

"Huh?" Shayne said.

"Rosa invited us to dinner with her and her fiance tonight" I told him.

"So this means we're not watching A Bug's Life?" He said with puppy eyes.

"Sorry we'll have to reschedule movie night" I said.

"Aw man" He said.

I sat on the couch next to him and nestled into his side for warmth. Shayne wrapped his arm around me and put his phone down.

"Do I have to dress up tonight?" He asked.

"Just don't wear sweats or something like that" I said.

"Dang that's what I was planning on wearing" Shayne joked.

"Am I going to have to pick out your outfit again?" I said.

"Only if you take it off me again" He said sultrily.

"Now is the not the time Shayne" I replied.

"You're no fun" He said.

"You owe me for that run" I said looking at him.

"Fine... I guess you're right" Shayne said.

"Plus I promise you'll have fun" I told him.

"What time are we meeting them?" He asked.

"The reservation is for 8 pm" I said.

"Ayy that means I have time to squeeze in a quick nap" He said.

"You're one of the only people I know who gets excited for a nap" I said laughing.

"Naps are great, wanna join?" He asked standing up.

"Let me set the alarm" I said.

"Make sure to set more than one" He said.

"Always" I replied.

I followed Shayne into his bedroom and towards the bed. I slipped out of my shirt so I was just in my leggings and bra. Shayne took off his shirt so he was just wearing his sweatpants. I set my phone on the table and double checked that my alarms were set. We both got in the bed and under the covers. Shayne held me in his arms as we closed our eyes. Slowly but surely I drifted off to sleep as did Shayne.
