Author's Note: In order to make sure people don't skip it since I posted them at the same time, make sure to read chapter 49 also!
Rindar stood alone in one of the underground chambers of his palace, staring down at the charred remains of his son and heir, fury coursing through his veins. The boy may have been nothing but an egotistical disappointment, but he was still his son, and in line to succeed him.
More importantly, the debacle had cost him much prestige in the eyes of the dragon families. Several them had also lost members during the scuffle, and they were far from happy about it.
Still, they were roaches, his family line had squashed some of them before, he could handle them if he had to. But this boy was something completely new, something that could pose a genuine threat to him and his rule.
"An Archon" Rindar muttered, still dumbfounded by the thought. Had he not seen it for himself he would never have believed it. Word would soon leak out, it was inevitable. He'd sworn the riders to silence but rumors of the battle had already spread like wildfire beyond the city. His wrecked palace would serve as proof enough to even the dumbest of spies. He had to take care of this situation quickly, before it turned into an even bigger threat to his power than it already was.
He was brought sharply away from his thoughts as the door creaked open. Rindar's eyes narrowed as a tall man in a long plain hooded cape stepped into the room and bowed deeply.
"You summoned me my lord" the man said in a low voice.
"You've heard the rumors I assume" Rindar said coldly.
"Indeed I have my lord, it is the hottest topic of conversation in the city, the noble ladies can't seem to talk about anyone but this brash young interloper who dared to openly challenge the lord" the man affirmed, an amused smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"Good, because I want you and your associates to track down this boy and Wyena Dieron" Rindar said, his mouth turning upwards into a sadistic grin.
"It shall be done my lord" The man said as he turned to leave. "What do you want me to do when I find them?"
"Kill them both"
