Licking.

Licking was all I felt on my face as I started slowly waking up.

Not knowing what it was in my half asleep state, I jolted up from my bed startled. There laying on top of me was a reddish-brown dog.

That's right. I thought to myself. I let them in my house since it was pouring last night.

~Flashback~

"Please let us in."

Looking at the German Shepherd, whose head was slightly lowered, I thought that it wouldn't hurt to shelter them from the rain. But as soon as the rain stopped, I planned to make them leave since I didn't exactly have enough money for myself and pet necessities.

"Fine, but only until the rain stops."

The looks on their faces showed happiness, but still a little saddened. For what, I'm not exactly sure.

As soon as they stepped in, I realized they were still dripping wet.

"Wait right here. Let me get a towel first."

And with that, I ran to the bathroom to grab some towels. When I came back, they were just standing there, waiting for something to happen.

I kneeled down and one by one started drying them off. The ones with more fur were a bit of a struggle to dry a decent amount, but I didn't really care. As long as they weren't soaked with water anymore, I could deal with it.

Once I was done, I had them stay in the living room while I took out a mini heater from the supply closet in the hallway. Moving the coffee table, I placed the mini heater in the middle of the carpet, then plugged it in.

Once it was on, I left it at a low heat setting. As soon as it warmed up, all of the strays circled around the heater and curled up on the carpet comfortably. I had to admit, they looked rather cute sleeping together.

Taking back the now damp towels to the bathroom, I put them in the basket to wash later, then headed back to my bedroom. I decided to leave my door slightly open just in case they needed anything, and then went back to bed.

~End of Flashback~

"Good morning!" The dog said happily while wagging his tail. He seemed pretty energetic.

"Uh... G-Good morning." I stuttered, the shock from earlier now gone.

He then jumped off of me on to the floor. Once I sat up, I noticed that the rest of them were laying on the floor, waiting for me to wake up.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" Asked the white cat, whose fur somehow managed to still look pretty white, as if he wasn't a stray at all.

"Yes... I did. What about you guys?"

"We slept fine thanks to you and your heater." Said the Golden Retriever, slightly wagging his tail. I smiled.

"That's good." I said. Suddenly, I thought about what to call them.

"Do you guys have names?"
