I called my mother at seven in the morning, after me avoiding her questions and her asking me a couple of times about the interview I lied to her that it went pretty well and they'd tell me the results today evening. Our talk didn't last long and she hung up as it was too late there and unlike me she had work next day.
The whole day passed by doing absolutely nothing rather than checking my phone. Every call I received was welcomed by me with a professional voice thinking it could be from Niaz Enterprises but my luck wasn't so good. It usually turned out to be from someone unimportant and unwanted.
Ella stayed in her room and I didn't try to intrude her personal space except one time when I went there to inquire if she felt hungry. She replied in a strained tone saying a 'no'. I actually felt bad for her but in the little time we have lived together there was one thing I came to know about her that she wasn't one of those people who lose hope and spend rest of their life regretting. She'll probably be fine by tomorrow.
Time passed in slow motion and as the sun disappeared from the sky, frustration pulsed through my veins as I stared blankly at my phone. I aggressively threw my phone on the couch and it bounced back on the floor, hitting it. Cursing profanities under my breath and I got on my knees to check the little piece of technology. By the grace of God, it was good enough, no scratches, no broken screens. Nothing.
I took in a deep breath and planked myself on the couch. Perhaps, I should try applying for other companies or should I wait for a bit longer, maybe till the night is over ? I think I would go for the latter, If I have waited for this long a lit bit more wouldn't cause much harm. But surely I could atleast start finding about more companies with vacancies, if not then look for a secondhand car. A well maintained secondhand car, to be accurate.
I pulled myself up from my comfortable seat and walked casually to the table placed right next to the television on which my laptop was kept. Taking the laptop, I plugged the charger in and took a seat on the armchair. First, I started with looking for a car as I typed the area where I resided and the kind of car I needed. The page was then flooded with many results and I noted down names of the showrooms and people who'd like to sell their cars, deciding to visit them tomorrow.
"Did they call? " I was startled by Ella's sudden voice. Her tall curvaceous figure leaning against the refrigerator with a bottle in her hand, taking a sip from it every now and then.
I shook my head in exhaustion."I better apply for other companies with vacancies." Stating that, I threw my hands up in the air and she frowned.
"You got an offer from two. Didn't you? " It is then it hit me. Two. Yes I got an offer from two. One was from Niaz and one from Rudolf, as far as I can recall. Suddenly the exhaustion turned into exultation and a smile was plastered on my face. I still have an option as I didn't reply anything to Rudolf Enterprises. I quickly opened up my mail to check if I got any more mails from Rudolf. None. Perhaps, they already have hired someone? But atleast I could try.
"Oh yes! That totally slipped from my mind. " It actually did. I was so busy in preparing myself to be the best version of me for Niaz that Rudolf totally was out of my mind. Ot at least we could say that I never considered it in the first place."Thank you so much, El." I stood up from my seat and engulfed her in an embrace. I was just happy that after all I still had an option.
"Thanks for nothing, ha. " She chuckled lightly and gave me a genuine smile, a smile I have seen after what seemed like days.
We were interrupted by my phone ringing and sighing, I wondered what kind of disturbance would be knocking at my door at this hour. We pulled off and quickly pacing to the couch, I took the device into my hands, eyes scanning the screen with a frown on my face trying to recognise the number of probably an unwanted creature. It was an unknown number but nonetheless I picked up.
"Miss Evelyn Cooper, This is Martina from Niaz Enterprises. " A professional voice spoke from the other side and I froze at the name. Niaz Enterprises. The most awaited call.
" Yes? " I cleared my throat, trying to sound as professional and formal as possible.
"You've qualified as the personal assistant to Mr. Malik. You are joining tomorrow. Additional details regarding the terms and conditions will be mailed to you, Miss Cooper. " She spoke in a cold, monotonous voice. I mumbled a thank you to her after which she hung up. The phone call wasn't much anticipated because I had already lost hope in them but that didn't lessen the happiness I felt inside in any way. A stupid grin took over my features as I shifted my gaze to Ella who had a smile on her face. I ran towards her and engulfed in the tightest hug I could ever give and nearly suffocated her but I was beyond jubilant and she just giggled. Finally my years of hard work has paid off and hopefully everything is going to be good from now on.
