Dawn and Fawn sat down beside Gemma at a table in the clubhouse while Bobby and Happy joined the other men for church.
"So how did the interview go?"
"It went fine. She starts tomorrow."
Dawn grinned. "Ok, that's good but why do you look worried?"
Gemma shook her head. "I'm not really worried but... she's just really wholesome, ya know? She's a preacher's daughter, for God's sake."
Fawn snickered and shook her head. "So were you and look how you turned out."
Gemma reached over and smacked her on the arm. "Shut up! I'm serious. Neeta knows her from the church she used to go to. Savannah's dad was the preacher. Both of her parents died in a car accident a few years ago when she was away at college. She dropped out of school to come home and take care of her younger sister."
Dawn shook her head. "That's tough. Do you think she'll fit in well here? I mean, these guys are pretty rough." She shook her head and chuckled. "We old ladies aren't the easiest people either."
Gemma thought for a moment before finally nodding. "Yeah, I think she will. She got on well with Abel, Parker, and Max today, and she has a background in office work, which is a plus."
Fawn nodded. "Well, then, we give her a fair shot. I for one will be glad to have the extra hands when these babies get here."
Dawn nodded in agreement as Tara came striding in the door, looking ready to bite a nail in two. She stopped at the table and directed her attention to Gemma. "Have you seen your son?"
Gemma lifted a brow but otherwise showed no emotion. "Yeah, they're in church."
Tara rolled her eyes. "Of course he is." She shook her head. "Always the club first. Can you tell him to call me whenever he feels that he has time?"
Gemma nodded. "Sure, baby, I'll tell him."
Without another word, Tara turned on her heels and strode back out the door, letting it slam behind her. Gemma shook her head as Dawn looked at her in surprise. "Trouble in paradise?"
Gemma shook her head. "Isn't there always? She wants him to leave the club and we all know that isn't going to happen."
Dawn whistled low and shook her head. "These guys live for the club and we all know that before we even get involved with them. I can't see him giving up something that his father built just because Tara doesn't like it."
Gemma sighed. "I'm sure it'll shake out the way it should. I hope, anyway."

Savannah surveyed herself in the full-length mirror on her closet door and sighed. It was her first day on the job and she wanted to make a good impression but she was pretty sure that jeans and a t-shirt would be just fine. She walked out of her bedroom and down the small hallway, throwing her hair up into a messy bun as she entered the kitchen.
She grinned when she saw Charlie standing at the kitchen counter eating a bowl of cereal. She shook her head as she poured a cup of coffee and smiled at her sister. "You know, you can sit at the kitchen table to eat."
Charlie shrugged as she set her now-empty bowl in the sink. "It tastes just as good standing as it would sitting."
Savannah blew out a breath and held her hands out to her sides. "How do I look? Do I look like a nanny?"
Charlie grinned and nodded. "Yeah, you look fine. I mean, you're no Mary Poppins but hey, who is?" She shook her head. "I can't believe you're working for the Sons. I'm so jealous."
Savannah rolled her eyes. "It's just a job. It's not like I'm going to be hanging out with them or anything."
"I bet they invite you to one of their parties. Those things are famous. Stacy Abrams went to one a couple of months ago, but they called her mom when they found out she was underage."
Savannah snorted and shook her head. "I swear that girl is a whore in training."
Charlie snickered. "Nah, Savvy, her training was over a long time ago." She looked at her phone. "You giving me a ride to school?"
Savannah nodded. "Sure, grab your stuff and we'll head out. Mrs. Morrow wanted me to get there a few minutes early so she could go over everything with me."
The drive to school was quick and quiet. Savannah still couldn't believe that her baby sister was a senior in high school and would be heading off to college soon. She sighed when she thought about her own failed college attempt, but there hadn't been any choice at the time. Perhaps after Charlie was off on her own, Savannah would be able to complete her own education.
After she dropped Charlie at school, she drove across town to the industrial section, pulling onto the lot of Teller-Morrow Automotive and parking next to the SUV that she had seen Mrs. Morrow get out of the day before. She grabbed her phone and got out, walking over to the garage office and walking in. She shut the door and turned to see a man standing with his back to her, looking at something on the desk. She grinned at the close-cropped mohawk on his head and the tribal tattoos on either side of it.
When he turned at the sound of the door closing, all the breath in Savannah's body escaped in a slow sigh. He had the most beautiful brown eyes she'd ever seen and when he smiled at her in greeting, she was pretty sure that her heart stopped. She watched as he swallowed hard, his smile fading into a look of shock before he literally shook himself.
"Can... can I help you with something? Please say that I can help you."
Savannah grinned as she nodded. "I'm looking for Mrs. Morrow? I'm the new nanny."
He nodded before pointing to the door. "She's uh... she's in the clubhouse. If you'll follow me, I'll show you."
Savannah nodded as he stepped past her and she tried not to notice that he smelled really good from some type of cologne. As they stepped back out into the morning sunshine, she could have sworn that she heard him whisper to himself.
"There is a god."
