"Thanks again for letting me rest a bit Danny-poo" Zoe crooned as she held onto Daniel's arm. "I'm not sure at all why I got so faint all of a sudden, it's never happened to me before."
Zoe and Daniel had spent the last hour or so just chatting, with the intermittent customer briefly interrupting them. Daniel still felt awkward and a little bit in disbelief over how much attention she was giving him, but she had quite a way with making herself seem genuine, not that he had much experience.
The first couple times a new customer had come into the store, he had stiffened up completely and tried to step away from her, expecting her to prefer not to be seen basically cuddling up to him, but after the second time she pulled him back he had begun to relax a little bit.
However, as experience had taught Danny till now, nothing good lasts for long in his life.
*Ding Ding!*
The doorbell went off once more as three of the thuggish classmates he had met earlier in the day at school came strolling in, dressed in what looked like their uncles' clothes. They sort of swaggered around, trying to play cool before one of them sauntered up to the counter.
"Eyyyyy... give me four packs of M#rlboro lights." The Elvis looking one said, refusing to make eye contact at first, before they all did a double take as the three boys recognized the girl sitting beside the corner store attendant. As he tried to continue bluffing his way towards getting smokes, his two friends just stared dumbfounded at the girl hanging off of Daniel's arm.
It didn't seem to affect Zoe at all as she kept her hand around Daniel's arm. She had a thick skin for things like this, otherwise all the comments at school slut shaming her for having been very lucky with the puberty fairy and not being afraid to have guy friends would have made her a shut-in long ago.
Zoe tried not to snicker at how bad a job the trio were performing in trying to pass themselves off as adults however. It seemed that Daniel agreed with her as he proceeded to ask them politely for ID.
