Jaz POV

The corridor outside the cell was incredibly bright compared to the dark cell we'd been stuck in for weeks on end.

We looked in every direction as we tiptoed down the corridor. We passed an empty cell on the way, which Maddy kept as far away from. I figured it was her cell. The corridor is empty except for the cells and an elevator. We run to the elevator and frantically press the button. When the door opens I half expect to see Gary standing there. He isn't and we rush in.

"It looks like there are 5 floors not including this one. What floor do we choose?" dr jones explained studying the button panel.

"Floor one I guess." I said and pressed the button. We travelled up and reached the floor. When we came up we found ourselves in a lobby. We see glass doors at the front going out into the streets. We begin to run but I stop. I heard screaming.

"Guys I hear screaming." I say. They stop and look towards a door. At the top of the door in gold lettering is Gary's office. We glanced at each other and ran barging into the office. Gary is standing in front of Amy who is tied to the chair with bruises on her cheeks and shoulders. Gary punches her in the face.

"I said, why did you help them?" Gary said threateningly.

"She can't talk, how can she tell you?" Maddy said as it was pretty obvious.

"She can talk. I had a doctor give her a silver tongue on the condition she'll spill." Gary explained not seeming to care we were in his office.

"It's true." Amy said impatiently. "But I will not tell you anything. Besides you know I believe in their ideas to stop you. You will not create wwiii." We stared at Gary. He was insane if he intended to create a war.

"Amy don't say anything." I warned her. Gary pulled a gun out and points it at her head.

"Amy spill it." Gary warns. Amy sighs and looks directly at me.

"Just like mother and father." She says. Gary shakes his head.

"No. No we are different. We are actually pursuing the idea. Father found a few clues but didn't actually accomplish anything. Mother wasn't smart enough to figure things out like you do." He explains carefully. Amy nods in agreement. Dr jones, Maddy and I just stand and stare at Gary and Amy.

"Gary why would you shoot her? you're family. You love her. Why would you do something like that?" Maddy asked softly. He lowers the gun slightly his face changing to realisation.

"I just don't think you get it sis. I will do anything for this, anything for father." Gary said struggling to keep the proudness in his voice.

"Is it because he beat you everyday for your mistakes? Beating you to make you perfect. Is that it? you think you have to follow his wishes because he beat it into you. It his fault-" Amy is cut off by Gary.

"No. It's not that. It's because I believe in the ideas. I believe. I do. To prove that to you I will harm them." Gary said his face twisting to a determined expression. He turns the gun and points it at me. I do not change my expression. Dr jones and Maddy gasp out of shock. Gary glared at me and pulled the trigger but not before Amy hits it down causing the bullet to go into my stomach. The pain hits me hard. I gasp and clutch my stomach. I bring my hands away to find them covered in blood. Gary smiles at me as I back into the wall and slide down into a sitting position still clutching my bloody stomach. I watch tears forming in my eyes as Gary laughs and walks over to Amy.

"See? I told you! I did! I proved it to you." He said laughing like a small child who had won a bet. Amy began to cry.

"Why would you do that?" she said crying. "To prove what?" Gary's face softens.

"That I love you. I care for you more then anyone else sis. Please believe me." He looks like he wants to cry.

"Take her to a hospital." Amy points at me. Gary nods and grabs his phone frantically dialling an ambulance. I look over at Amy. She's still crying. I thought about what Gary said. about how much he loves her. He probably believed this is love, from his father beating him telling him it was for his own good. Because he cared. Gary was unstable and his father had taken care of his life being miserable. For the first time since i'd met Gary. I felt sorry for him.
