Everything was a blur from the moment Georgie heard the flatline of the heart monitor. She was no longer aware of her surroundings, of what has happened, what she was doing or saying.

She only faintly remembered being ushered out of the room by doctors and nurses as they rushed past her. Remembering the look of immense guilt and sorrow on the Alpha's face when he looked at Georgie.

Georgie didn't eat very much for the next days following the week of Jake's funeral. She couldn't seem to stomach anything. There was always this constant lump in her throat, this build-up of sorrow that didn't want to go away.

Georgie had always wanted to ride in a limousine. She thought they always looked really cool and fancy, but when she sat in the black leather seat of the limo, she hated it. Who would enjoy riding in a limo while on their way to their boyfriend's funeral?

The whole ride was silent with Georgie staring out of the window, the only noise being Jessica and her Nana quietly making small talk. Dianne had driven all the way to Georgie and Jessica's apartment when she heard what happened to Jake. She was staying for a few days to help the girls.

It was common knowledge in the pack that Georgie and Jake had been dating, that Georgie could have been Jake's second chance mate.

Deciding that she didn't want to see the grieving faces, hear the pitied and sympathetic "I'm sorry for your loss", or even feel the sadness that came with attending a funeral, she tuned everything out. She only snapped out of her small trance when she felt a warm hand get placed on her shoulder.

Georgie looked up to see Madeline, Jake's grandmother, giving her a small smile.

"Hello, sweetheart," Madeline said, her hazel brown eyes searching Georgie's face. "Look at you, as pretty as ever."

Georgie faintly smiled as Madeline pulled her into a tight hug that lasted for a few moments. When they pulled away from the hug, Dianne walked up to them both.

They introduced each other and Georgie could tell that they'd get along really well. Dianne got along with almost everyone, she had a certain aura around her that seemed very welcoming, similar to Jake.

Lilliana and Lea seemed happy to see Georgie, but clearly not their usual selves, for good reason. They didn't seem very confused about Jake like they did with their parents. They probably understood now.

When it came time for everyone to sit down and listen to others tell fond memories about Jake, Georgie tuned it out. She was already crying and she didn't need to cry any harder at the moment or she'd get an even worse headache than she already had.

Tuning out everyone else's memories also meant getting lost in her own.

"So Georgie, have you ever heard of the Moon Goddess?" Jake asked as he stretched out on Georgie's bed.

"Uh... I might have heard Jessica mention it once or twice, but I'm not sure. Why?" Georgie asked as she rummaged through her closet for something to wear.

Jake had unexpectedly shown up at Georgie's without any forewarning and announced they were going on a date.

"I don't know, I was just wondering."

"Are you going to tell me about her?"
