Georgie and Jessica walked around the open area of the pack, looking at all the houses and buildings. The sun was sitting high in the sky glaring down at everyone who was outside.
"So, I talked to Lucas a little while ago and..." Georgie trailed off distractedly as she saw three little kids run past her. The pack must really be safe if kids can just run around wherever without their parents tailing after them. Or their parents aren't actually good at watching their children.
"And?" Jessica urged.
"He said that even though he's bending the rules to let me stay here, he can't let me live in that whatever-it's-called mansion. He offered to buy me a house, he said he would pay for everything and give me a month to get settled in before I'll have to look for a job and continue everything on my own."
Jessica stayed silent for a few seconds. Georgie could practically see the gears turning in her head.
"Wait... he offered to buy you a whole house?" Jessica asked, stopping in her tracks.
"Yes, Jessica." Georgie smiled at Jessica's baffled expression but kept walking causing Jessica to jog to catch up. "Lucas said it'll be a small-ish house with three bedrooms-"
"What did you tell him?!"
"I said yes and thank you? What else would I say? Do you think I'd actually pass up this opportunity? Besides, I figured you wouldn't want to live in our old house by yourself and maybe would want to stay in the pack?"
"Oh my gosh yes!" Jessica put her hand over her heart and sighed in relief. "I thought I was going to have to move back in with my parents!"
"What's so bad about that? Their house is really nice."
"Because I like my privacy. My mom never knocks when coming into my room. And they don't let me randomly rearrange furniture whenever I feel like it. Not that you like it either, but you're not my parents so I don't have to listen to you."
Georgie laughed and rolled her eyes, continuing their walk as Jessica began pointing out and naming all the different buildings and places for Georgie to memorize. She saw a lot of large wolves run past her, like incredibly large. Some of their backs reached up to Georgie's waist.
"Georgie!" A deep voice called out. The two girls turned to see Lucas walking towards them. He held out a shiny key to Georgie. "Would you like to check out your new house?"
Georgie smiled and took the key. They followed the Alpha past a few houses and the large mansion he lived in before stopping at a nice one-story house with white brick and a black rooftop with a garage.
"I hope you like it," Lucas said, looking at Georgie.
"I love it, it looks really nice. Thank you," Georgie smiled gratefully.
Georgie unlocked the door and stepped inside, closely followed by Jessica.
"We need to start packing," Georgie mumbled under her breath as she surveyed the empty house.
"Definitely. Man, I'm going to dread this, we have so much stuff," Jessica grumbled, looking around at the small kitchen that connected to the living room.
After having a look around at all the bedrooms (Georgie claimed the master room), Lucas informed Georgie and Jessica that they would need to pack up all their stuff as soon as possible so he could get the movers.
"Well, I think we have time to get some stuff packed up before dark, wanna get started?" Jessica asked, looking at the time on her phone.
"I guess. It's going to take a while though," Georgie sighed.
