The Next Morning
Lily's POV
I'm still confused about last night.
What deal was Harry talking about? And what's with these anonymous people contacting me? It's frickin creepy and I don't like how everyone has my number.
I don't understand why Harry got mad when I mentioned Liam's name either. Weird shit is going on.
Luke texted me saying that I needed to come in at 10am today which made me set my alarm for 8 o' clock. I did my morning routine and put on a casual outfit for work and went downstairs. Liam was of course, already eating his bowl of cereal while on his phone.
He smiled at me. "Good morning. I'm assuming you need a ride to work?"
"Actually, Niall offered to take me this morning since he's already driving the in same direction to his job." I informed him.
"Oh, okay then."
I furrowed my eyebrows. "What's wrong?"
"What? Oh- nothing. I'm fine."
I rolled my eyes at his answer. "Bullshit Liam. I-" The doorbell rang interrupting my sentence.
I sighed. "That's Niall. We're definitely talking about this later."
I walked to the front door and opened it. I expected to see Niall but was instead greeted by Harry.
"Hey Harry. Why are you here?"
"Look Lily. I- I'm sorry, okay? I'm fucking sorry. I just need you to start over with me and I promise I'll be different and I'll treat you better and I'll buy you gifts but I- I just want you to be my girlfriend, okay? W- will you, be my girlfriend? Please?" He breathed out and stared at me with his electrifying, green eyes.
I was so stunned by his outburst that I didn't even hear Liam come up behind me. "What's going on, Lil?"
"I- I um-"
"I thought you were going to work with Niall? Why's he here?" He glared at Harry.
Harry cleared his throat. "Niall's coming here?"
Just as Harry stopped talking, Niall's car pulled up. I gestured for him to stay in his car so he wouldn't be adding fuel to this fire.
"Look" I started, "Liam, I'll see you later okay? And Harry, I'll call you later so we can meet up and finish this conversation." I hugged both of them goodbye and kissed Harry on his cheek.
I got in Niall's car and asked him if we could get there as soon as possible. I think he got the message because for the rest of the time he drove 10 mph above the speed limit and didn't ask any questions whatsoever.
I thanked Niall for driving me and went inside the cafe.
"Heyo." Luke smiled at me.
"Hi." I sighed.
Luke furrowed his eyebrows at me. "What's wrong? And don't you dare say you're fine because you're not." He gestured for me to sit at one of the tables and sat down next to me.
"I don't know. My stepbrother was being weird this morning and then Harry came over unexpectedly and asked me to be his girlfriend and-"
"Woah woah woah slow down. I thought you and Harry were already dating?" Luke asked, confused.
"I mean- I don't know. I thought we kind of were but maybe not... It's all so confusing, Luke."
"Yeah I bet." He smiled reassuringly. "I'm sure everything will be okay though. And tell Harry that if he's ever a dick to you, I'll kick his ass."
I giggled. "Will do."
Luke gave me a lunch break at 1 so I decided to call Harry.
Ring
Ring
"Hello?"
"Hey Harry, c-can we talk?"
I heard him sigh on the other line. "I'd rather talk in person."
"Then come over to my work. I'm on lunch break for a little bit, so we can talk while I eat."
He snorted. "I'd rather drown myself than go to your work."
"Why?"
I heard him mumble something but I couldn't make out his words.
"Stop mumbling. Why won't you come over Harry?"
"I don't like that Luke guy, okay? He gives me a bad vibe."
"You won't even have to see Luke. He's working the register right now."
He sighed. "Fine, I'll be there in 10."
We hung up and 15 minutes later Harry and I were sharing a sandwich getting ready to talk things over.
"So about earlier..." I started.
Harry stared at me with a blank expression. He seriously was not making this any easier.
"I- um, I like, uh-"
"Lily, it's okay. I know what you're trying to say."
"W-wait really?" I asked.
"Yes. I get it, okay? You don't like me that much and you don't want a boyfriend right now. I understand completely." He avoided eye contact with me and took a bite out of his half of the sandwich.
What the hell is he saying? He's completely wrong.
I do like Harry. I trust him even though we haven't known each other too long. I don't know much about him but maybe that's why we should date. So I can get to know him better. And if all fails, the worst that'll happen is we breakup and perhaps remain friends, right?
I noticed Harry finished his sandwich and started to stand up from his seat.
"Wait Har-"
"No, Lily. I'm fine. We can be friends. It's better this way." He bent down and placed a kiss on my forehead. Is he delusional? I want to be his girlfriend!
Oh shit.
I want to be his girlfriend.
I WANT to be Harry Styles' girlfriend.
"Harry stop!" He turned around and was just a few feet away from the exit.
"I-"
"Hey Lily! Your lunch break is up. Tell Styles he needs to order something or beat it!" Luke yelled from the kitchen.
I sighed and yelled back. "One sec Luke!"
I turned back towards Harry who wasn't in the cafe anymore.
I ran outside to see him walking fast to his car. I sprinted and yelled at him before he got inside his car.
"Harry Styles!" He turned around and stared at me with wide eyes. I could almost see a spark of hope appear in his eyes.
"I want to be your girlfriend! Okay? I like you a lot and I wanna get to know you more and I'm sorry I didn't tell you this morning but I tried to tell you inside the cafe and you wouldn't let me talk and I- I just..." I looked at the ground. "I like you and I want you to be my boyfriend."
I could hear Harry's footsteps getting louder as he approached me.
"You mean that?"
I looked at him with teary eyes. "Yes."
And he kissed me.
