I opened my mouth to scream but made no sound. I closed my eyes and held my breath to find a way to deal with the pain. I needed to move but there was a force holding me down. There was a strong burning sensation that coursed through my veins, making me think my blood was literally boiling. It didn't feel hot where ever I was, but the heat was under my skin, burning me from the inside. My head was throbbing trying to deal with everything hurting at the same time. I could have sworn my heart was going to burst through my chest and continue beating on the floor. The pain would get so unbearable and then stop. I'd be able to catch my breath and begin to recover when it would hit me again just as strong. It was like standing in the sea and having the waves crash over me. The only thing that was consistent was the sound. It was hushed and comforting, like someone stopping a baby from crying. It kept me as sane as possible whilst trying not to die. After the pain became so unbearable I was glad to see the darkness approaching. I welcomed it. At least it would take away the pain.

Regaining conciousness was something I hadn't thought was going to happen. I was confused as to why I wasn't out cold, eyes glassy, not knowing there was some person over me checking I was dead. I knew I was alive by the feeling of something shifting next to me. I tensed immediately, not wanting to move and disturb whatever it was. If it was someone that wanted to hurt me there was no way I was going to let them know I was awake. I lay still with my eyes closed, focusing on breathing. "Cass." I tensed up again at the sound of my name. I recognised the voice. I opened my eyes slowly and stared at the ceiling. Finally managing to turn myself onto my side I faced the direction where the voice came from. Zach. I sighed with relief. Thank god it was Zach. He smiled at me, showing off his fangs and I smiled back. Something wasn't right. I could feel something sharp against my lip. My eyes had gone wide in horror as Zach took my hand. My smile had faded but his still remained as I took my free hand up to my mouth. I felt them. Two sharp teeth putting slight pressure on my bottom lip. I could feel my fangs. I dropped my hand back to the bed and looked at Zach. His smile turn into a grin. He leaned in and I thought he was going to kiss me. Instead he just whispered, "You're one of us now."
