Chapter 27

I  survived. I didn't think I would but I did somehow. I took a deep breath and instantly regretted it because now all of my nose tubes got a fresh load of ash and dust, making me cough. It didn't taste very good but judging by that fact I had to come to the conclusion that I was lying on the ground, face against the ashy surface of my realm. I tried to move a muscle but I felt like a truck had hit me, leaving me several serious injuries but the truck had come from the inside and not the outside.

"Are you okay?" Both of my dads asked worried.

My dad knelt in front if me and started to rub my back. I think I could hear Chaos dad growl inside of me at the gesture. I felt him direct his magic towards my wounds in order to be able heal them before my dad tried. Funny how he got jealous. I sighed as I felt the bones shift underneath my skin in oder to rearrange them and said skin stitch itself together on top of exposed flesh. I had missed my healing powers and even though these weren't mine, they'd come in handy.

"No. I think I ripped myself a new one." I grunted, heaving myself up, aching. "We can go looking for Alexios now."

I blinked confused as I managed to stand up, looking at my surroundings. I had completely destroyed my home and there were only some smoldering rocks residing where it once stood but despite of all the destruction I had also managed to restore the sphere's former beauty. I could see the dark forest extending into the distance, glowing, leaves whispering. I had always wanted it back and as soon as I had given up on it, I got what I wished for.

"Wow." I said in awe at the view in front of me.

"It's beautiful." Chaos dad hummed. "Good job."

"You need to get some rest, Thanatos." My dad scolded, completely ignoring what I managed to accomplish. "Recharge you energy and then we need to talk."

"I want to be out there! I need to be out there. Let me look for him, please!" I pleaded, turning towards my dad.

He sighed and turned towards me, holding his arms out for me. I figured it would be best to give him what he wanted and then I could still run off on my own. I let him hug me and he cradled my head against his shoulder. I could feel him hug me tight for a second before grabbing me and making sure I couldn't move. The fear spread through my veins, just as I figured out what he was trying to do. I should have made a run for it when I was still able to but now my own father betrayed me again and put a sleeping spell on me. Everything went dark and the last thing I saw was him, gathering my limb vessel up in his arms.

"Why am I not unconscious?" I asked confused.

"I wasn't fast enough to keep your body awake but I'm using my magic to keep you awake." Chaos dad explained.

I could hear the anger in his voice. I knew he was trying to hold back and calm himself down but I could still feel the emotions brewing inside of him. He wanted to rip my dad's head off for having the audacity to lay a finger on me even if he hadn't hurt me. He just didn't want me running around outside and causing even more trouble but I wanted to find Alexios. I needed to see that he was safe.

"Thank you." I murmured ashamed that I had let me guard down around my dad and he had managed to trick me.

"I didn't do anything." Chaos dad answered grumpy.

"You didn't yell at me for being stupid and risking the universal balance by getting you out of Chaos."  I offered him to not obsess over my other dad's actions.

"You already knew what you were risking. Just be mindful of your actions from now on." He said quietly.

We kept quiet for a while but I couldn't shake off the restlesness in me. I would give anything right now to be out there and to help search for Alexios. I wanted to be the one who found him, freed him and took him home. I wanted to tell him how much I loved him and try to figure out how to cook so I could bring him food to the bed while he rested. I'd give anything to feel his embrace around me again.
