Chapter 22"I really don't remember anything from Chaos." My dad said annoyed after being asked by my siblings for the seventh time in a row.
"How inconvenient." I drawled taking a sip of my vanilla milkshake, licking the whip cream off my lips.
We had been sitting here for a while now and I had gotten bored eventually. We had spent most of the time circling around the same topic of my dad and the weird shadow in the supposed Chaos being darkness and what that meant for the universe over and over again. Alexios had eventually taken Nael and Zoe home so he could watch her because I feared we might actually break out in a fight and she didn't need to see any of that.
"See, you are doing it again, being condescending towards us." Moros accused me, throwing his hands up in the air like the drama queen he was.
"Yeah, I'm a few seconds older than you, show your elders some respect!" Hypnos smirked, having lost his motivation but apparently not his shitty humor.
"I will try being nicer once you try being smarter." I jabbed at them again.
My dad just burried his face inside of his hands, shoulders slumped down. I'd feel bad for him if I were capable of that. Once this was over he still had to go home and suck up to the water nymph. I smirked to myself at the mere thought as Alexios reentered the restaurant and I watched him stroll over. I just wanted to go home and spend time with him, maybe make out for a while and then go to sleep with him next to me. Since when had I become that soft? Oh, well.
"Zoe and Nael are making food right now. She will be fine." He reported, giving me a kiss on the temple as he sat down.
I just nodded to let him know I was fine with that and tried to turn my attention back to the discussion at hand but I was tired of them looping in an endless cycle of denial and having no clue of what to do. Combined they were almost as useless as I was except I would take it a step further and not even try to find a solution but in the end neither of us would have achieved anything and I wouldn't have wasted any energy during the process.
"Did it try to get out? Did it try to use you?" Hypnos asked alarmed at the sudden realization that maybe it was an actual threat.
"No?" I grunted annoyed and sipped on my milkshake again because what else was there to do.
I was so going to pancake onto the ground later, writhing in pain and squirming, trying to give birth to a massive lactose fart baby. At the end of the day that might just be more fun than sitting around here with those idiots trying to come up with a plan. If we ever finished this discussion I'd just feel empty and drained but after the lactose incident I'd sure as hell feel relieved and sleep like a baby.
"What does it tell you?" My dad asked, interrupting my mental monologue.
"Not much?" I turned defensively at them prodding at me. "The smoke is rather mindful and friendly actually."
"How's that?" Moros asked, stabbing at the remains of his breakfast with a fork.
"The smoke respects my wishes and doesn't try their best to fuck me over." I smirked half amused, trying to hide behind my milk shake.
I could see Moros clench his teeth and swallow down a snarky remark. My dad just sighed and traced the rim of his water glass with his fingers while Hypnos had already given up and just sat there slumped back in his seat. The only one who was having fun was Morpheus who was typing away at his phone with a big smirk on his face. And Alexios. That asshole was resting his hand at the inside of my thigh, making me twitchy.
