Chapter One
Luke Skywalker had just sent off C3PO and R2-D2 to Jabba’s palace to place a bargain upon Captain Solo’s freedom. He had also sent Leia, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian in case his bargain fails. Luke suddenly felt a presence, a strong one, not knowing whether it was friend or foe Luke equipped himself with a blaster since his lightsaber was with R2. He approached the door to Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi’s home, which he had been staying in until Han was set free. As he turned he came face-to-face with a hooded figure, he immediately raised his blaster towards it. “Who are you?” he demanded, the figure did not speak it just walked around marveled by Kenobi’s home. Luke kept the blaster raised in case it decided to spring an attack.
“Who are you?” Luke demanded once more, now moving towards it. The figure didn’t dare to speak, just continued to look around like it was lost. He followed it around the home until they reached the bedroom. It froze.
“Skywalker?” it questioned, Luke could now make out that it was the voice of a human female. He said nothing to her she had her back to him “Luke Skywalker?” she asked now annoyed with the whole ordeal.
“Yes, and may I ask who you are?” he lowered his blaster, but didn’t want to lower his defense all the way. She turned to him and pulled back her hood to reveal her face, she was beautiful. Her porcelain face was surrounded by locks of golden blonde hair. Her eyes are what caught him they were a slight blue-green mixture she looked to be no older than Luke was himself. Luke was quite puzzled as he tried to piece together what she was doing out there alone.
Before he could question she spoke once more “My name is Emily Bendal, an old friend and master of mine sent me here to complete my training. He said you could help me, though he did inform me that you were only a Jedi Knight yourself. It’ll have to do for now.” Luke had set his blaster upon the bed.
“Who was your master? Why would he send you to me? As he said, I’m only a Jedi Knight. How can I possibly train you?” he moved even closer to Emily now, she took caution and backed up a bit.
“Yoda, I’m only a Padawan, or was. My training stopped after he fell ill, but he told me there was another. One who could teach me the ways of the Force.” She now had a saddened look upon her face Luke considered it to be because of Yoda’s illness. He had no idea Master Yoda was ill, the thought of Yoda dying crushed him.
He sighed, he could barley train and take care of himself, how was he supposed to train and take care of this Padawan? He thought about it before giving Emily a precise answer, he would basically have to father and mentor this young woman, but how? Luke was sure Yoda must have been thinking of another Jedi, though it doesn’t explain how Emily knew his name and his exact location. “I’ll see what I can do I’m not sure how I can possibly do this. What have you learned so far?”
“Well Yoda taught me the basics, and I taught myself a few tricks. Nothing more.” She said picking up his blaster. “Where’s your lightsaber?” the girl questioned carefully studying the blaster as if it were a newly discovered species.
“It’s with a friend I have business to take care of tomorrow, and will you please put my blaster down?” Luke said getting impatient and taking the weapon from the girl, she immediately looked apologetic.
“Sorry Master.” She whispered, Luke still couldn’t grip the thought of him teaching Emily. She seemed very quiet, but very curious which could be a problem.
“I’ve got to get some sleep I have to be at Jabba’s palace in the morning.” Luke got a handful of blankets. He then picked up his blaster and other materials and moved to the couch, leaving the bed behind for Emily to sleep in. She was quick to follow him to the couch. “Go to sleep, I left you the bed.” He closed his eyes.
