Chapter Twelve

Chapter 12

Luke and Vader continued to battle, each blocking attacks from the other. Luke then swiftly kicked Vader causing him to flip and fall down the stairs. "Good. Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you." The emperor said. Luke looked back down at his father and deactivated his lightsaber.

"Obi-Wan has taught you well." Vader said.

"I will not fight you, Father." Luke said taking steps back as Vader stepped up the stairs towards his son.

"You are unwise to lower your defenses." Vader said attempting to strike down Luke, who then activated his lightsaber to prevent him from doing so. Father and son continued to block each other's moves. Luke swiftly jumped over a control system then up onto a bridge above.

"You're thoughts betray you, Father. I feel the good in you, the conflict." Luke spoke as he felt his father's feelings. He deactivated his lightsaber, attempting to convince his father to return to the good side.

"There is no conflict." Vader said.

"You couldn't bring yourself to kill me before. I don't believe you'll destroy me now." Luke said walking around the bridge. He glanced over at fallen bridge on top of Emily's body.

"You underestimate the power of the dark side. If you will not fight then you will meet your destiny." Vader said flinging his lightsaber at Luke. He quickly ducked and the weapon cut through the metal holding the bridge up. Sparks flew as the bridge gave in and collapsed. The emperor stood up in amusement, hoping Luke would be dead like Emily. The collapsed caused Luke to fall, he quickly took cover under the emperor's throne.

"Good. Good." The emperor said to his apprentice. Vader went below in search for Luke.

Vader continued the search for Luke under the throne. "You cannot hide forever, Luke." Vader said.

"I will not fight you." Luke yelled back.

"Give yourself to the dark side. It is the only way you can save your friends." Vader said.

Luke thought for a moment, he thought of Lando, Chewie, Han and he thought of his twin sister, Leia. He then thought about Emily, it was too late to save her. Maybe is wasn't, if he joined maybe they could save her. He shook the last thought out of his head. He'd never join the dark side, never!

"Yes. Your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong especially for your sister. So you have a twin sister. Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the dark side then perhaps she will." Vader said toying with Luke.

"Never!" Luke yelled in rage igniting his lightsaber and attacking Vader. Luke's anger was now overpowering his other emotions. He continually struck at Vader, the two soon backed out from underneath the throne. The two continued to fighter until Vader collapsed and out of anger Luke struck and cut off the hand that his father was holding his lightsaber in. Vader yelled out in pain, the emperor laughed amused.

"Luke." said a faint voice. The voice soothed him. Luke looked over to see the emperor with Emily. His jaw dropped in horror. Emily's body had been impaled by a metal pole from the bridge. He had no idea how she was even somewhat still alive. The emperor held her up laughing.

"Good! Your hate has made you powerful. Now fulfill your destiny and take your father's place at my side." the emperor said. "If you join us, I will use all that I can to save her for you." The emperor said attempting to bribe Luke.
