I drifted through many layers of dreams that night. I barely remember anything, except when I accidentally communicated with Devan.

I was in the middle of a forest, it looked like the last place the Hunters had been, in other words, the place was blackened and looked like there'd been an explosion. I looked out, and saw Devan, walking around the place, digging through and looking at all the destruction.

"Hey, Devan!" I called out to him.

He jumped up, looking around. "Who's there?!"

"It's me, Artemis! I accidentally caught a mental link with you. I'm sleeping right now."

"Oh, good! You scared me." He paused, thinking. "Well, we can catch up right now, I guess. How far have you gotten on the plan?"

"How about I answer you after you answer me. Why are you here?"

He sighed. "The people who rebelled against us got loose, and bombed the camp. Only a few of us survived. We tried tracking them down, but it was no use. I couldn't contact you, for some reason. It was like your brain waves were caught up. Anyways, we came here, in search of answers, maybe a way to find you."

"How many of you are left?"

"Fifteen, including me. Will we be enough for what you're planning?"

"You'll be more than enough. I'll tell you where we are. Come as soon as you can, and make sure no one follows you."

He nodded. "You got it. Where are you?"

"60.3 degrees latitude. 15.9 degrees longitude. When you get here, I'll explain our plan so far, and we'll start planning together."

He smiled. "60.3 degrees latitude. 15.9 degrees longitude. Okay, see you soon!"

I smiled in my sleep. "See you later, Devan."

He left, but I continued to walk around the camp, looking for any sign of life, or anything, anyone, left. Just as last time, I found nothing, and no one. I sighed, sat down on the forest ground, and fell asleep in my own dream.

I woke up slowly, my eyes opened, and I sat up, yawning lightly. I looked around, realising Zabrina had already left. I looked out the window, and realized it was the afternoon. I jumped up, scrambling out of bed, into a clan outfit, and upstairs for breakfast. Or, lunch? Whatever.

I ate a quick, simple meal of toast and cheese. I swished it all down with a glass of milk. After I finished, I raced around the house, trying to find Zabrina. Finally, realizing my idiocy, I went into the office, where I found her working on the escape plan with Thalissa.

"Wait, I  never told Devan she's alive..." I muttered under my breath.

"What'd ya say, Artemis?"

"Huh? Oh, nothing, Zabrina. What have you gotten so far?"

"Well, with all the bombers, it will be hard to get all of them through the portal, so we need to..."

"Zabrina, forget it,"  said, cutting her off. "They were bombed by a few loose ends. There are only fifteen left. As a matter of fact, they're coming here right now. I told Devan the coordinates. They'll be here soon."

There was a short, awkward silence.

"Why does this happen so much? Why, when things seem to be going right, do things then go so wrong?!"

Thalissa gave me a side hug. "I don't know, Artemis. Life is never fair. It's a cruel game that we play, in hopes of things going right. And some things have gone right. We're still alive, we have a start to our plan, and reinforcements coming any minute. People will die, but as long as we are together, we can make sure only the evil ones die."
