I woke up the next morning in my bedroom. When I turned on my phone, I saw both a text from Annie and Krista. They were both out. I groaned, but looked at the time and saw that it was 11:32. I sighed. 'I should probably get the day started.' I thought as I walked to the kitchen. I took out some bread and put them in the toaster. When it finished, I spread jam and butter on it and began to eat my breakfast.
At around 11:40, I got a message from Levi. 'Crap... I forgot!' I thought before reading the message. When I did read the message, I was relieved to see that he said that he would be late too. I groaned, but got up from my seat and went to my room. Then, I got ready.
After 30 minutes of brushing my hair out, picking out an outfit, and putting on the aforementioned outfit, I was ready and was waiting for an Uber to pick me up. By the time I made it there, it was 12:20 and I could see Levi through the store windows, sitting at a table. I was hesitant to walk in. 'I haven't seen him in years. I thought he was dead. So... why is he here now?' Instead of pondering my own thoughts and then becoming irritated with them for not knowing the answer, I walked inside and sat in front on Levi.
"Hey." I greeted him, quietly, as I sat down. "...hi." It took him a moment to respond. "How've you been?" Levi asked. I almost glared at him, feeling slightly irritated with him. I know that he was my godfather, uncle, and just an awesome person in general... but that doesn't mean that I'm not angry with him. "Where have you been?" I asked him, sternly and making sure that the fact that I was irritated shined through. "I've been... places." He sighed. "And what? I just became irrelevant to you?" I nearly snapped at him. He sighed, but looked away. 'What was he hiding?'
"Levi."
"Yes?"
"If you won't answer my other questions clearly, at least just tell me this."
He gave me his full attention.
"Can you just tell me how... how you survived? The crash?"
He looked away again, his eyes fixed on the view outside the window. I looked out too, only to see that he was staring at nothing. Then I remembered, he was in war. 'He probably has PTSD. I shouldn't be so harsh on him. He probably got brain damage from the crash and didn't even remember who he, or who I was for a long period of time. Goddammit Mikasa! Why can't you just consider others for once?!'
"Don't be so hard on yourself... Mika." Levi stated. I looked at him, curious. "I know what you're thinking. And yes... I did forget everything thing for a long time. But I was still a coward. Because when I did remember you... I was in no hurry to contact you. It isn't your fault." He stated. My expression relieved itself from worry to pity. 'Guess that just happens when you know someone for a long time. You just... know what they're thinking.'"To be honest, Mikasa. I don't even know how I survived to crash myself. All I remember was waking up in an isolated area with two of my colleagues, Hanji and Erwin Smith, and just trotting on with my life in survival mode as we tried to find help. Eventually, we did." Levi explained.
"So, you don't even know." I said, sighing. "I'm sorry for being a little harsh." I apologized.
Levi shook his head.
"It's okay." Levi responded.
"I answered you're question... so can you answer mine?" Levi asked. I nodded. "How have you been?" He asked. I bit my lip, only thinking of how I was a prostitute for so long. 'How do you even tell somebody something like that? Hey! So, since 10th grade I've been sleeping with older men for money haha. No, that sounds stupid. I'll just tell him what he wants to hear.'
"I'm.. okay." I mumbled, grabbing onto my red scarf around my neck, but not necessarily pulling it over my nose. Levi raised an eyebrow.
"Okay... like how? Any children, a spouse?" He asked, getting personal. I began blushing furiously, so I pulled my scarf up to cover it.
"Hey, it's my turn for a question. Do you have a spouse?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Oh? Who?"
"That lady you saw yesterday, she's my wife. Her name is Hanji Ackerman." He answered.
"Expecting children?" I asked.
"We've been trying." He shrugged. "You got a spouse?" He asked, bringing the same question back up again. I bit my lip.
"Yes." I mumbled.
"Who?"
"This guy named Eren."
"Mhm?"
"Boyfriend. Don't know if he wants to take it any further though." I shrugged.
"Do you want it to go further?"
I began to feel suffocated by all the questions. I stood up from my seat. "Allow me to use the restroom." I said. Then, I left. When I was inside the bathroom, I took my phone out and saw a text from Eren. My face lit up.Babe💑😍🤞
Busy today?My Mika❤️💍
Kinda, Yeah.Babe💑😍🤞
Oh?My Mika❤️💍
Hanging out with someone from my famBabe💑😍🤞
Oh yeah when can I meet someone from your family?I froze. I didn't know how to respond to this. Or actually... more like I didn't want to respond. So... I didn't. I avoided the question.
My Mika❤️💍
Ya know. I actually needa go now. TtylI shut off my my phone and put it back in my purse. 'That's enough texting for today.' I thought. I walked out and saw Levi drinking a soda. He must've order something. I sat back in front of him and watched as he took little sips from his processed drink. "Do you still like strawberry milkshakes?" He asked. I nodded. He smirked then, and pulled out a strawberry milkshake from under the table. "Here." He said. My eyes lit up. I've been needed a milkshake. I happily began sipping on the milkshake.
As I was enjoying my drink, I could feel my phone vibrating in my purse and I could hear the ring notifications go off. I knew that it had to be Eren. Levi looked at my purse, confused.
"Someone texting you?" He asked.
I nodded. "Eren." I replied.
"Is he annoying you?" He asked, getting protective as he raised an eyebrow and lowered the other. I shook my head.
"No, not really. He could never annoy me." I smiled. Levi backed off, but still kept his guard up.
"If you say so." He responded. After we finished our drinks, I didn't bother with too many other questions. I got the answer to what I wanted, and he seemed to be satisfied as well. As I was walking in the parking lot, I stopped on the sidewalk and got my phone out. Levi looked back at me, curious as to what I was doing.
"What are you doing?"
"I need an Uber."
"Oh, I can give you a ride."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Awh, thanks! That'd be great!"I ran up to Levi and got in his car. He had a 2016 Hyundai Santa fe which was navy blue in color whilst the interior seats, dashboard, and wheel was covered in black leather. I sat in the passenger seat as he sat in the drivers seat and began to drive off. We pulled out of the burger joint and soon, we were on the road. I gave him directions to my apartment and when we arrived, I could see a familiar truck parked next to it. "This it?" Levi asked, pointing to my apartment. "Yeah." I responded.
Before I got out of the car, I saw a figure standing beside the truck. I couldn't recognize them. 'Who is that?' I thought. I leaned forward and rolled down the car window. And that's when I recognized them. I froze... it was Eren. "Who is that?" Levi asked. "My boyfriend." I sighed.Levi parked his car, and then I walked out. Eren began to approach me and he put his hands on my shoulder.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Why didn't you answer the phone, or respond to my texts?" Eren asked, worried.
"I was..." I bit my lip, thinking of a lie "busy.."
"Okay. But don't scare me like that ever again."
Eren leaned forward and placed a kiss on my cheek.
"You got me worried there for a second." He added.
I gave him a hug, reassuring him. "Don't worry. I'm here now." I said. As we were hugging, I heard Levi's voice behind me, call out to us. "So, this is Eren." He said. I turned around. "Yeah." I responded. "Mika. Who's this?" Eren asked me as we broke apart from the hug. I sighed. "Levi, this is Eren. My boyfriend." I said, looking at Levi. I tilted my head to my boyfriend. "Eren..." I began. "remember how you wanted to meet someone from my family?" I asked. Eren nodded. "Well, here ya go." I said, pointing to Levi.
"This is Levi, my godfather." I sighed.
