Annie and I rode together to Eren's house in Annie's car. She was meeting up with Armin, just like I was meeting Eren, so she offered to give me a ride and I accepted. So now, we were in the car as I pestered her about Eren. She didn't mind though. Actually, she was happy that I found someone.
"So how did you do it again?" I asked Annie. "I just made it super obvious and always hung out with him. Since Armin is usually pretty shy, I'm pretty sure I met him 75% of the way." Annie laughed. I nodded. I asked her about how she got together with her current boyfriend, Armin.
I kept asking her on information about her and Armin, as well as information about Eren. "Mika, just be yourself." Annie suggested. I sighed, then nodded.
When we arrived at Eren's house a couple minutes later, Annie and I hopped out the car and walked to the door. I was about to ring the doorbell when Annie stopped me. "I have a key." She said. I nodded as she opened the door. We entered the house and it stunk.
It smelled as if there was poop everywhere, disgusting. The stench was unbearable. I used my pointer finger and my thumb to close my nostrils. Making sure I won't be able to smell the awful stench. I looked to my left to see that Annie had done the same.
We both went upstairs to search for Armin and Eren. First we entered Armin's room. No one was in there. Then we went to Eren's bedroom and we saw them. Armin and Eren both wore gloves for some odd reason. Eren held a bag of dog treats and Armin had beads of sweat rolling down his forehead.
Armin was looking under Eren's bed and was whistling. Eren held 1 dog treat in his other hand as he waved it around under the bed. They haven't noticed us yet and they were just talking to each other.
"Eren, why does she always leave us with her?" Armin asked, out of breath. Eren shrugged. "I don't know man." Eren answered. He didn't sound just as out of breath like Armin did.
Annie finally cleared her throat, gathering Armin and Eren's attention. Once Eren saw me he blushed and turned back to face the bed. That's...strange. Armin sighed in relief once he saw Annie and I as he stood up.
"Are any of you girls good with dogs?" He asked us. Annie shivered at the word "dogs". "No. They absolutely terrify me." She responded. Armin frowned in disappointed. He turned to me then. "You?" He asked.
"I..I guess." I shrugged. He smiled happily. "Wait. Why? Is she here?" Annie asked, emphasizing the feminine word in her question. Armin nodded. Annie sighed.
"Who is she?" I asked. I looked over to Eren who was desperately trying to cover his blush as he looked away from me. I looked back to Annie and Armin, impending a response.
"Eren's...mom." Annie answered. It took my brain a while to process that statement. But once I did, I asked her a question. "What do you mean?"
"Every year Eren's mom comes over to just...visit. She always brings her dog and leaves us in charge with her when she's gone." Armin explained. I nodded, slowly understanding.
But still, why is Eren acting odd?
"You umm...might not wanna be here when she comes back." Annie suggested. "Wh..why?" I asked. "She's a little...overprotective of Eren." Annie said. I could see that in my peripheral vision that Eren was standing up. I looked over to him to see that his cheeks were still overwhelmingly red.
"I'm gonna go get one of her toys." Eren finally spoke. Armin nodded as Eren took his gloves off and exited the room. Annie nudged my elbow, signaling for me to go talk to Eren. I understood and left to see to Eren.
I saw him standing in the hallway, about to head downstairs. Before he could take more than one step down the stairs, I called out to him.
"Hey, Eren." I greeted him. He didn't turn around. He just stood at the edge of the stairs, facing the opposite direction of me. "Are you okay?" I asked him. I heard him inhale and exhale a few shakey breaths before he hesitantly nodded.
