Oh my gosh! This is the worst day of my life. Now I have to sing in front of him! I have to be really good too, I want that solo for the Annual Christmas Spectacular.
"Now I trust that you won't talk about others and compare each audition to another, that is my job.", she says giggling. "Remember we all know each other here except for our new student Kris Holliday. He will be auditioning tomorrow. Now... first up, Nick." Nick walks up, he doesn't look nervous at all. That's of course because he always volunteers to go first. There's always that one kid who thinks they're all that, well he is. He's actually an outstanding singer but he's just full of himself. He stands in front of the beautiful grand piano we have. He hands Mrs. Grant the piano music he has prepared, when she sits on the piano bench.
"I will be singing There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays." Mrs. Grant begins playing. I love piano, I always have. I actually play piano, I started lessons in 1st grade and haven't stopped. Now that I'm in college, I teach myself and take a piano study class.
Nick begins singing and as soon as he's done the first verse, everyone knows that he'll be getting the solo for lead male. His voice is so beautiful, he sounds a lot like Josh Groban. After his song is over, he gets a loud applause. Then he takes a bow, which just shows how serious he is about choir. Mrs. Grant continues through the list, Candy sings "Joy to the World" and Emma sings "Oh Come All Ye Faithful". She finally reaches my name, the song I decided on singing was "Oh Holy Night", I mean you can never go wrong with Oh Holy Night. I hand her my sheet music and take my place in front of the grand piano facing everyone in the class. I take a deep breath, she begins playing. I make sure not to look at Kris because if I do, I'll lose all the confidence I just mustered up. I begin to sing, I let the notes slide out. I focus my eyes on the back wall and my friends sitting in the second row. I avoid, at all costs, even a glimpse at Kris. Then...I don't know why, but I looked at him. Yes! Right after I said I wouldn't...Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices, oh nighhht divi-suddenly my voice squeaks. I mean, it wasn't as noticeable as I thought it was but I lost all confidence in that moment. Thank God, I was on the last line of the song, I finish the song. I get an applause but not near as much as I normally do. I take a seat, I can't believe this happened! I was doing ok, till I looked at him! I just continued sitting there thinking about how I just screwed my chance of a solo all up! Why does this have to happen to me? After all, he's just a random guy with pretty blue eyes, isn't he?
