Chapter Eight.

As days went on, things got better and better.  I was now able to cope without Charlie being by my side, but I'm not saying I don't miss him because I still do. But I knew that being locked up in the room, listening to sad music or playing with my guitar wasn't going to help me. That was when I finally decided to get some fresh air, and get myself together again.

Today was thursday, which was a good day because my essay was extended till next week.

"Hey Mylla," I heard Mr. Wishart says as he taps my shoulder. "May I ask who your partner is again for your science project?"

"I'm supposed to be with Charlie but," I sighed closing my book slightly. "He left. Diana decided to do the project on her own and Isaac did the same."

"Do you mind having one of the new students in our class as your partner? He's not really new here, he's just moved to our class." Mr. Wishart explains.

When I heard him say he, I immediately froze. I mean, I've worked on school assignments with guys before but they were close friends of mine. But this boy or man, is defined as a stranger to me.

I really did want to say no, to insist to work with someone else, but I play the nice guy. "May I ask for his name?"

"His name is Adrian Brooks."

***********************************************************************

I couldn't believe the fact that I agreed to be partners with, Adrian. Rumours around the school always said that he was Charlie's rival, but he was nothing compared to him. Nothing to me.

Quickly exiting the science block, I made my way to a spot in the cafeteria, where I would usually find Alicia and Isaac.

Minutes hasn't even passed by, and I was already there. If I was willing to do anything for love, I was also willing to do anything for food.

I quickly grabbed a ham quiche and flavoured water, before making my way to the couple. There they were, sitting down, laughing as usual.

"Hey guys," I greeted, waving a hand. "Mind if I sit with you two?"

"Sure." They both replied in unison, smiling.

"Thanks."

"How have you been lately?" Alicia asks as she munches on a biscuit.

"I've been doing," I paused as I open the can. "Fine."

"We all know that when a person uses the term 'fine', it doesn't actually mean they're okay." Isaac responds, scrolling through his phone before looking at me. "Talk to us Mylla, we're here for you. Or if it makes you feel weird that I'm here to listen, I'll hand Alicia over to you and you guys can talk until you're better."

"I really appreciate that Isaac," I replied as a smile cracks on my face. "Although that doesn't change the fact that you're still an ass to me."

"No harm done." He chuckles. "What's up?"

"I honestly think I'm coping much better with Charlie leaving," I sighed. "It really is hard though, this long distance relationship. Its almost been a week since we've talked, and its killing me. I need to hear his voice just to make me a whole lot better."

"He probably has something planned for you," Alicia says grinning. "Maybe he's trying to get you to talk to him first."

"If that's what he's doing, he's going to start a fight. I miss him too much."

"I'm pretty sure he miss you too girl," She responds with a sassy tone.

      "I hope he does."

As Alicia was about to respond, a shadow of a man appears behind me- grabbing her attention along with Isaac's. I quickly turn around to see who it was.

What on earth did Adrian Brooks want?

"Hey Mylla," He greets out of random. "Can I sit next to you?"

"Sure?" I response as he quickly pops down beside me.

"So um, thank you for uh-" He stutters as he scratches the back of his head. "Thanks for agreeing to be my partner in Mr. Wishart's class. That was a nice move from you."

"No worries." I shrugged as I take my first bite of quiche.

"I'll try to take the smart side out of me," He jokes. "Or atleast pretend that I'm smart."

"Try your best then." I giggled.

"My name is Adrian, ofcourse I do my best." He states proudly, as he pumps his chest.

Should we start talking about a cocky attitude here? He's exactly just like Charlie the first time I met him.

"You said so," I muttered under my breath.

"Well it was nice talking to you Mylla. I'll see you around." He winks, getting up from the chair beside me.

As soon as he was gone, the couple infront of me exchanges weird looks to each other. I quirked a brow at them, but they just smiled at each other.

"Why are you guys smiling?" I couldn't help but ask.

"Oh nothing," Isaac winks, copying Adrian's moves.

"Okay?" I answered back, sounding unsure. "I think I better go now, my guitar lessons are on again."

"Have fun."

I grabbed my back, stood up before walking away slowly.  Luckily, I was only two meters away from the table so I could still hear what they were saying.

"I think that Adrian may be on the way in Charlie and Mylla's relationship," I heard Isaac say.

"He's almost exactly like him." Alicia answers back.

"Almost. I hate to say this but, I have a feeling they may be a couple one day."

"I can't help but agree."

Me and Adrian? No way. My heart was built and set for one and that's Charlie. There is not a chance that he is going to be replaced because I've poured my soul to him. I'm one hundred percent attached, due to the fact that I've given what can't be taken back. I love Charlie, only Charlie.
