*Four years later*
I sat at the airport anxiously shaking my leg and staring at my phone. I was so nervous about seeing Diamond. It's been four years since we've seen each other and about two and a half years since we've reconnected. I was so excited when she hit me up on Facebook. Ever since then, we've talked on the phone everyday and sometimes we even FaceTimed, even though I was always staring at her ceiling or on pause.
I was suddenly broken out of my thoughts when I heard a familiar voice. "Melanieeeeee!!" I turned around to see a tall, slim, tomboyish female running towards me. I embraced her with a tight hug.
"Omg I've missed you so much!" She said tightly squeezing me. We finally broke the hug after a while. "I've missed you too, it's been too long." I said looking her up and down. I couldn't put my finger on it but there was something peculiar about Diamond.
She cocked her head to the side and put her hand on her hip, "Why you looking at me like that?" "No reason, you're just different. You look different." I said as our eyes met.
"You ready to go?" I said breaking the silence. "Yeah." She said looking down at her phone. We both walked to the car and I helped her put her things inside.
Diamond
I sat in the passenger seat of Melanie's car reminiscing about the things we used to do when were close. "Remember when we snuck out to go to that party and almost got caught?" I asked laughing. "Omg, yes. We had to sneak through the window cause my brother locked us out!!" Melanie said. We continued bringing up old memories and adventures from the past until we pulled up to a really nice apartment complex.Melanie parked in a garage connected to her townhome and we both proceeded to get out of the car. We began grabbing my bags and I followed Melanie to the door connected to her apartment. We walked in and I was in awe, her place was so big and luxurious. "Well, this is your home for the summer." Melanie said with a smile. She began giving me a tour, "Here's the living room and dining room; the kitchen is right through here; this is my room and my bathroom; and here's your room." She said as we made our final stop. "Your apartment is so nice and cozy, I love it." I said smiling. "Thanks. Oh, I almost forgot; your bathroom is right through here." She said pointing down the hall.
