Love May Be Blind (1D Fanfic)

Chapter 9

"I wish" I mumbled to myself hoping Mrs. Payne wouldn't hear. I don't think she did.

"Oh! I almost forgot the sugar! Be right back!" she said as she scurried into the kitchen. As soon as the door to the kitchen closed Liam spoke.

"My mum has cancer." he blurted as tears started forming in his eyes.

I didn't know what to say I just looked at him in shock. Then after a long awkward silence his mom walks in.

"I got the sugar!" she said. "Hunny, are you crying?"

Her saying that only made Liam cry harder. "Maybe you two should go." said Mrs.Payne while rubbing Liam's back. So that's what we did.

Niall opened the passenger side door for me. "I'll drive." he said. I tossed him the keys and hopped in the passengers side. We drove in silence to the school to get Niall's car. Once we got there he took the keys out of the ignition but neither of us moved. 

I buried my face in my hands. "I'm a horrible friend."

"Why would you say that?" Niall asked putting his hand on my back.

"Because he told me his mom has cancer and i just looked at him like an idiot."

"You were in shock"

"I didn't even do or say anything to comfort him."

"Hey don't beat yourself up. You guys are best friends for a long time. i'm sure you'll work it out."

I gave him a hug. "Thanks for everything Niall." 

I pulled away from the hug I looked into his crystal blue eyes and bit my lip. I wanted to kiss him so bad. I saw him looking at my lips.

"Niall?" i asked

"Yeah" he answered.

I leaned in and whispered. "Kiss me"

With no hesitation he leaned in and our lips moved perfectly together. I wrapped my arms around his neck and ran my fingers through his blonde hair. Neither of us wanting to break the kiss. Suddenly my phone vibrated causing me to  accidentally bite his lip. 

I gasped " Sorry!" I said

"Its fine." he said touching his lip as he smiled.

I took my phone out of my back pocket. "Its my dad he wants me home." i said.

"See you tomorrow?" he asked as he started getting out of the car.

"Of course." I said with a huge smile on my face. He closed the door and i hopped into the drivers seat.

I drove home, all I could think about was Niall and the kiss. I forgot all about the Liam thing. When i got home i walked inside and was greeted by Sammy. 

"Hey Sammy!' I scratched behind her ears. "Dad I'm home!" i yelled. 

"In the kitchen!" he yelled.

I walked into the kitchen still smiling. "What's up?" I asked as I walked over to the fridge.

"What's up is that its half passed four and school ended at 2:45."

"I was just visiting Liam" I took an apple out of the fridge and took a bite. "No biggie."

"Well next time at least text me or call me where your going to be."

"Ok, i'll be upstairs in my room and I have work in a half hour." I headed up the stairs with Sammy at my heels.

When i got to my room Sammy laid on my bed. I decided to go on my laptop. I  logged into Facebook, which i rarely use and saw a friend request from Niall. I accepted it of course. I also looked at his profile. It said his birthday is September 13th. Today is September 3rd so that means its in 10 days!

I checked the clock, 4:50. I needed to be at work at 5. I work at a small restaurant in town called Nandos. The food there is to die for in my opinion. So i hopped into my jeep and drove. 

I came back at 7 exhausted. It was crowded today. I collapsed onto my bed and fell asleep almost immediately.
