The Birmingham sky was a smokey grey, the air still, as a crimson steam engine rattled along its old tracks. Thick plumes of smoke puffed into the country air as the echo of the train came muffled to the occupants of the carts. The seats that lined the compartment were close to empty, a group of four down one end, and an old couple sitting by a window down the other. Dual coloured eyes starred out of the musty window with a blank look, the woman's neck and shoulders devoured by a lush black fur coat, but remained hidden behind round glasses. The glass was tinted a shiny black.Claudia Holmes turned her head to the other three adults that sat in the compartment with her. James, Dean and Maggie. She had brought the two blondes for design purpose, both having a knack for interior design, while it was beyond entertaining to listen to the blue eyed man rant about rude people in Romanian. He had taught her years ago so some nights they spent sitting at the bar people watching. The drunks would stumble and grunt, fine whiskey or malt beer staining their breath, while the more upper class people would whisper and gossip over a bottle of fine wine. They were too absorbed in their own lives to notice two pairs of eyes glittering with happiness at what they had just learnt. Secrets spilt easily when one has had too much to drink.
A shrill whistle rang through the air as the steam train pulled into the dull and dirty station. Pigeons strutted about the platform, their little feet gliding across the ground in an oddly elegant and confident fashion. The group hop onto the stone path with Claud standing tall in the front. Her hidden eyes zeroed in on a stout portly man in a grey suit and brown coat, his greying hair swept back, and moustache trimmed neatly. On the ground beside him sat a brown leather brief case.
"That's the agent I walk talking about" James huffed out around a lit cigarette. Claud nodded and sauntered up to the man, her black heels clicking against the stone while her coat swayed behind her. The man's swampy brown eyes flicker up before her grabbed his case. His round jaw twitched nervously as he looked over the odd looking trio that followed after the white haired woman.
"Are you Claudia Holmes?" He asked, voice wavering on her name for a moment but he quickly covered it up.
"Yes, that would be me" Her voice was light and gentle in an attempt not to intimidate the older man. He nodded with a quick 'follow me' thrown to the group as he scurried off to a car that was parked on the road outside. It was a bit of a squeeze fitting Dean and James in the back, poor Maggie sandwiched between the two men, but the drive was over quick.
As they clambered out of the vehicle, the locals and workers gave them odd looks. Their cloths stood out, being pristine and fitted, while the sheer aura of power that surrounded the bespectacled woman was enough to make anyone curious. Claud smoothed our her coat. The white haired woman took pride in her looks, using her beauty and femininity to her advantage. She did like wearing suits though, having several tailor made and stashed in her closest, but she liked getting dressed up from time to time.
