Beepbeepbeep!
I pry my eyes open and am immediately greeted with blinding sunlight. I moan as I rub the sleep from my eyes, roll over and stare out my window.
A light wind rustles the trees outside and leaves slowly fall to the ground. I close my eyes as I yawn and when I reopen them a man in an orange hoodie and ski mask stares up at my window. He sees that I have spotted him and slowly raises a hand in a greeting.
My mouth opens in shock as I rub my eyes. When I look again he's gone.
Shaking my head, I slowly get up, get dressed and head down stairs.
I'm not looking forward to school today. I've only gone once since Amber had been killed and it's just not the same. Given, I have never really enjoyed school before she had passed but now it just feels like torture. When I sit at our empty table I just wait for her to come waltzing back through the doors and act like nothing has happened.
But that won't happen because of Ben.
I stare out the window above the kitchen sink, there's not much to see but it's somehow comforting to see the wind gently rustle the trees. By the sink sits a little orange pill bottle with a sticky note on it from Mom.
Don't forget to take your medication! I might be late from work today, the other waitress called in sick. Dinner and lunch is in the fridge!
I roll my eyes. I know that I don't have-what was it that Ben called it? Psychosis? It doesn't matter, I don't have whatever it is that they diagnosed me with.
I open the pill bottle, remove a pill then drop it down the garbage disposal. After I flip the switch and hear the satisfying crunch of the little pill, I screw the lid back onto the bottle and put it back then grab an apple and my lunch.
I walk to the door then wait on the front porch for the school bus but can't shake the feeling of being watched from the trees.
"Hey, BEN!" The elf-lookalike turns around to see the masked proxy running down the hall to him. "What have you been doing? Boss needed some shit encrypted but no one could find you."
"Hmm?" BEN glances at his phone. 8:25 am. I've still got time. "Oh. Sorry bro. I've been out taunting a girl."
"You mean that girl's friend? That chick's friend that Jeff killed?"
A blank look from BEN earns a sigh from the proxy. "Never mind dude. Just fucking encrypt this then get it back to me. You've got ten hours" The man hands the elf a thumb drive then turns on his heel.
"What the fuck man?! I have plans today! In like-" BEN pulls out his phone again, "Two minuets ago!"
The masked man turns his head slightly but doesn't turn to look at BEN, "Oh? Is it more important then doing one little request from the man who has so graciously decided to house your loser ass?"
BEN's face heats up in anger but says nothing.
The proxy smirks behind his mask and walks away wordlessly, leaving BEN fuming behind him.
"Graciously my ass." BEN at last mutters under his breath after the other male turns a corner.
I get home from a surprisingly quiet day at school. I haven't received a single text from Ben and I can't help but love it.
As soon as I walk through my door, I sling my backpack onto the nearest chair and go into the living-room to turn on the TV and get settled onto the sofa.
I flick through the channels and eventually stop at Supernatural.
Hey, maybe they'll cover whatever the fuck Ben is. Or I could hire Sam and Dean. I humorlessly chuckle at my thoughts and watch the episode.
After the episode ends, I shut the TV off and stare at the reflection of the window behind me. The man in the hoodie is standing in the tree line a few feet from the house.
I spin around on the couch and there he stands, inches from the window holding a gun.
A/N: So that was my first time going to a different point of view. What do you guys think? I would like to make that a normal thing in upcoming chapters but am unsure. Yay or nay?
