Chapter 2:

The sun was beaming down on my face. The next thing I noticed was the smell of green apples, Caitlyn’s shampoo. She was still there with her head on my chest and her right arm around my waist. My arms were still wrapped around her. I leaned over and checked it clock, it read 9:30.

I decided to slowly get out of bed so that I wouldn’t wake her, go downstairs and make some breakfast, Caitlyn’s favorite meal. I whipped up some chocolate chip pancakes, her favorite, pored some chocolate milk and to top it all off, I added a plate of chocolate covered strawberries. Needless to say, Caitlyn loved chocolate.

Right as I set the last plate down, a sleepy Caitlyn walked down the stairs as she was rubbing her eyes, probably to get the dry tears off her face. Even though her makeup was messy and smeared she still looked beautiful. “What ya doing, love?” she said to me in a groggy voice.

“Just making your favorite breakfast, here come sit down.” I pulled her chair out for her and ushered her over. “I wanted to make the start to your day, wonderful!” I leaned down and kissed her cheek. I defiantly loved her.

“Aw Harry, you didn’t have to do this!” she beamed as she hugged my waist.

As we started to eat my lovely breakfast, it was quite good if I do say so myself, I realized something. “Oh my god!” I shouted, nearly spitting my pancake out on the table.

“What is it? I thought the pancakes tasted great,” Caitlyn injected.

“No it’s not that, thanks by the way, I just realized that break’s over today. I have to go to the studio. What time is it, love?”

“About 10.”

“Meet me at the studio later. I’m sorry babe, I really got to go. I’m late.” I said as I kissed her on the forehead and stumbled to the door.

“So what, you’re going to leave me with all the dirty dishes?” she joked. She knew from the start that I wasn’t going to do the dishes.

“Yup! Bye now!” I giggled back.

Twenty minutes later I walked into a room full of glairing faces. “Harry Styles where have you been? I was worried sick! You didn’t answer any of my calls, you didn’t reply to any of my texts! I thought you were dead in a ditch somewhere! You had me worried sick!” Louis shouted.

“Sorry, I was at Caitlyn’s. She had a bit of a rough night yesterday.”

“Excuses, excuses. You really need to be more responsible, Harold.” Liam said, trying to make me feel guilty.

“Sorry, dad.” I joked as I gave him the puppy dog face. He just looked at me then turned away as he rolled his eyes. He hated when I called him dad. But he knew I hated it when he called me irresponsible, so, payback.

“It’s alright mate, I saw the tweets to her. Some people are so cruel.” Louis understood me. That’s one thing that I loved about Lou, he would always have my back.

We had just finished recording the second song of the day when Caitlyn walked in. “CAITLYN! How are ya, love? I haven’t seen you in ages!” Louis said in a very loud, excited voice as he jumped off the couch to go give her a big bear hug.

“I’m good, babe. It has been a very long time! We’ve got to catch up sometime!” One of the best things in life is when your two best friends get along extremely well. I couldn’t help but smile like an idiot as the two of them were hugging.

“Well, I don’t know how I’m going to top that ‘hello,’” Niall started, “so, how are ya, love?” he said as he hugged her gently.

All of the other boys said their hello’s and gave her hugs. I loved that they all liked Caitlyn. Knowing that they all like her makes me lover her even more.

After fixing up and editing the songs we recorded, it was finally time to leave for the day. Don’t get me wrong, recording is one of the best parts of being in the music industry, but after being stuck in a room for hours on end gets a little boring and tiring.

When we walked out of the studio doors, we were mobbed be at least a hundred fans. We love our fans, but it was getting kind of late and after a long day in the studio, none of us were in the mood to have a bunch of teenage girls screaming in our faces. I took Caitlyn’s arm and helped her through the sea of people not thinking anything of it, until one girl shouted at the top of her lungs, “HARRY ARE YOU TWO DATING?! LOOK EVERYBODY! HARRY AND THAT GIRL ARE DATING!”

That girl. They knew who she was. She has been mentioned in so many of my tweets and has been in some of our interviews. It killed me to hear that they called her ‘that girl.’ I hated that more than I hated the fact that they just assumed that we were a couple. I actually liked the sound of that. Caitlyn and I both ignored the comment not saying anything back at them and hurried on into my car which was parked right in front of the building. When we got in and buckled up Caitlyn let out a big sigh. “I honestly don’t know how you do it, Harry. How do you handle all of those people, and how do you handle the rumors that get spread? It’s just so crazy!”

I looked at her, realizing again how beautiful she was. “Because I have you,” I proudly said. She had a confused look on her face so I added, “you’re my rock, Caitlyn. You take me back to a time when everything was much calmer and quieter. You help me stay grounded.” I saw her cheeks begin to turn a soft shade of red. Could this be because she liked me too? She never really blushed when I gave her compliments before.

“Well, I’m glad I can be of help to ya, Haz.”

She smiled at me and I smiled back. I could get lost in her ocean blue eyes. We drove back home. I parked at my house but then I walked her to her doorstep, like a gentleman. “Thanks for letting me come to the studio today, Harry. Now I know why you love it so much. It’s a pretty cool place.”

“Anytime you want to go, you’re welcome.” She was smiling at me with her gorgeous white teeth showing and her beautiful eyes looking directly into mine.

“It’s a date! Goodnight, Harry,” she said as kissed my cheek; I couldn’t help but get butterflies. Then she turned to walk inside.

“Hey, Caitlyn?”

“Yeah?”

I froze. “Uh, good night.” I said shyly.

She giggled and said good night to me again. Was I seriously about to ask her out? Why did I freeze up like that? I’ve always been able to talk to Caitlyn about anything! We have had some deep heart to hearts where we both have actually broken down and started crying, bawl actually. Why was a simple question like “do you want to go out with me,” so hard to ask the person that I was closest to? Maybe I was just worried about rejection. We have been best friends for fifteen years, if we haven’t started to date yet, maybe it just wasn’t meant to be. Or maybe we both just didn’t want to mess that good and that long of a friendship up.  All I knew was that I was going to need a little help from my friends on this one.
