"GET BACK IN THE CAR!"

Shouts could be heard from the school car park.

"I told you, I don't know who's that is!"

"ARE YOU LYING TO ME, SON?! GET BACK IN HERE!"

Curious as to what was going on, Rose peered round the fence to see an old, dented car, an angry man inside. In fact, 'angry' didn't describe his emotions; he was raging! In his hand was a piece of paper, a beautiful drawing upon it. As Rose looked closer, she realised who's it was: it was Alex's. No, Rose thought, please don't be Alex. It was. Half out of the car was Alex, pulling his way onto the pavement. All of a sudden, there was an ear-piercing bang! Rose looked inside the car, and Alex's arm was bleeding, blood pouring to the floor.

"THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR LYING TO ME, SON. I TOLD YOU, I WANTED YOU TO DO SPORT AND YOU LIED TO ME, INSTEAD DRAWING!?WHAT KIND OF SON ARE YOU!" His father was still raging, now grabbing a knife. Fortunately, Rose saw this, now screaming. Dashing towards Alex, she pulled on his good arm with all her might until he was lying on the floor.

"YOU MONSTER! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO HIM? How could you?" Rose's yells weren't heard over the roaring of an engine as the violent man made his way into the distance, a trail of smoke behind him. "Alex, you can't have a father like that! He just pulled out a knife!"

Clutching his arm, he replied, "He's done that before. Most of the time he uses his fists, but I guess I really did blow it this time."

Rose grabbed the drawing out of his hand and saw autumn trees, a picture of Alex and her sat underneath them. Rose then looked towards him and, eyes still like waterfalls, said, "It's beautiful, Alex. Maybe he'll come around the idea some time."

"He won't. He's yelled at me many times, and if I ever bring them back up again, it will be another slash with the knife." He looked meaningfully into her eyes.

"Have you ever called the police?"

"Many a time, but they always believe him; he used to be a policeman before he retired. Sometimes I just feel like running away."

"Alex! Don't run away. If you don't like living with him, we'll find another way. For now, you can stay at my house. If there's room for all my clothes, there's enough room for you!"

Alex looked up to her and hugged her tight, wiping away the tears on her smooth cheeks. He then asked, "So I can stay at your house tonight? I might need a few things from my house, but my dad shouldn't be in until four 'o' clock, leaving us time to get my clothes."

"Alex, of course you can. I'll come with you after school to collect your things then my limousine will take us straight to my house."

"Limousine?"

"What do you expect? I'm a world-famous model!" Alex just smiled, so they both walked across to school, Alex's arm almost healed.

At the end of school, Alex and Rose walked all the way to his house, before grabbing as much of his belongings as they could, about to flee, except...

"ALEX! It's four 'o' clock! Your dad should be home any min-"

A turn of a lock could be heard and then the opening of a door.

"Rose, go through the window and escape. I'll deal with him. Rose obeyed, taking his stuff with her. She leapt out just as his bedroom door was open and a furious man came inside. Raging, he yelled at Alex, "WHERE IS ALL YOUR STUFF? WHY IS THERE A SUITCASE!"

"Uhhhh..." Alex shifted closer to the window.

"DON'T LEAVE! OR I'LL MURDER YOU!"

That was it; Rose was already jumping back through the window, grabbing Alex by the hand and rushing towards the window. It was too late - Alex's father was already running towards Alex, a knife in hand. Rose leapt in front of him, protecting Alex.

"ROSE, NO!" Alex's shouts could be heard and Rose took the blow. Clutching her arm, she pulled Alex out of the window, and off they ran. Soon, Rose was driven away by her butler, in her limousine, Alex sat right next to her, hand in hand. Off they went. Rose watched the window splattered with rain. Like tears, they fell down. Rose has finally rescued Alex from his father and she wasn't going to leave him. Ever.
