Prompt: P0tterish gave me permission to create a one shot based off of their own work called "The Stare"! This can be found on their profile, go check it out!!

(Disclaimer: I totally took the story's initial structure from the original one shot but I swear the idea of Charms class was a complete coincidence! The plot past the first chapter break is all my own creation!)

His hair glimmered in the light across the hall, Harry was transfixed. The world was dead behind him as Harry continued to assess the shine of the other man's hair. It was really quite beaut-

"Haaa-rrrr-yyy!"

"Harry!" The voice came again, "HARRY!" It sounded familiar...

Was it- Hermione?

"Harry James Potter pay attention to me right now!" Shouted one highly concerned Hermione Granger.

Time snapped into place just as Harry's eyes reached his best friend's. Her eyebrows bore a small valley between them and she looked about ready to shout again. It had been a few months since school had resumed and most of the students had finally gotten over the Chosen One's fame, so even though her volume was anything but quiet, Hermione was nothing like a Howler. Therefore, her mid-ranged shouting lacked importance. That didn't mean the yelling was called for. Just as her mouth began to stretch, the old Gryffindor seeker's hand shot out quickly and latched it closed.

"Hermione, what is it?" With hesitance, Harry moved his hand away from her mouth.

"Well, it's just, you've been staring again Harry! It's only the morning now and I've brought you back to reality three different times! Three!" As if to emphasize her point, the brown-haired woman waved three fingers into Harry's eyes before dropping them back to her own breakfast.

It was at that point Ron decided to clear his throat. Once. Twice. Thrice.

"You know mate, Hermione has a point. We already know about your crush, but it's really getting in the way lately. A bit hard to talk with you really," Soft blue eyes find Harry's for a brief moment before they drop right back into his loaded plate.

Harry had finally figured himself out. Over the summer he found the reason as to why Ginny and he never clicked; he was gay. Gay for who you may ask? Draco Malfoy of course, who else? After discovering such an alarming thing, Harry brought the issue straight to his bestfriends. Ron had a lot of difficulty digesting it. He had no care if Harry preferred birds, bees, boats, blokes- whatever he was attracted to, that wasn't the issue. It was with whom this attraction was held towards. Hermione had been quite hesitant once she heard it was Malfoy who Harry fancied, yet she got over herself quickly, unlike Ron. It took roughly a week of convincing but soon the red-head came along too. Harry had never felt more lucky to have his friends back than in that moment, even if he couldn't get too detailed around Ron.

"I understand, I think. I don't really stare that much, do I?" Switching his eyes between his two friends as if to catch a response, Harry's eyes quickly have a mind of their own and scan the crowd.

Once they find Draco, they don't move until Harry's breakfast is near freezing, students are packing up, and Ron tugs harshly on his arm. Even then Harry only blinks away a second, just long enough to get up and grab his bag off of the floor. Promptly, his eyes meet Draco's across the hall. All of the sudden Harry feels his brain mush, his muscles thaw, his heart pound. Draco is holding him in a strong gaze that cannot be broken, not even when Ron nearly dislocates his arm. The gaze seems to be held for hours, even if it's solely a brief glance in Harry's direction. Just as Draco goes to look away he does the strangest thing...
