The next morning, I went out early. I don’t want to witness the monster wake up so I went for a jogging along seaside of Mall of Asia. I need some fresh air and besides, MOA Baywalk is wonderful during Sunday mornings.

Also, I called Esther right away and asked her to meet me ASAP.

“Please, tell me why you’re asking back the notebook?”

“I need this, Terrence just confessed his feelings for me.”

Esther’s mouth dropped and it was open for almost a minute.

“Oh my gosh!”

“I know! I know! He’s drunk when he said those.” Esther’s eyes narrowed.

“Drunk words are sober thoughts,”

“Okay, I was glad he likes me but I am not sure if he was sane last night. He knocked at our door drunk and beaten. He said he broke up with Lisa and his dad beat him up.”

“Lisa’s been crying to me all night. She phoned me, and just said ‘hey, listen I’m going to cry okay? Don’t hang up’. You’re better at facing best friends who cry.” She said, annoyed. I just smiled at her.

“I can’t believe both of you are my friends.” she added. That’s Esther she doesn’t make it look like she cares.

I swallowed. There’s a forming guilt inside me. Terrence’s confession is unusual, so out of the blue, so not of perfect timing. Being the reason for my friend’s heartbreak is unforgivable.

“You don’t need to feel guilty, you know. It’s not your fault that you’re the reason of their break-up.”

Esther’s also quite a psychic.

“Are you sure it’s me? I mean… I just don’t want Lisa get hurt and…”

“Macy, Lisa has handled a hundred heartbreaks unlike you. This is your one and only shot with the guy you like. I know I sound pathetic because I’m not a love expert at all but for once, please do the right thing. Can you be selfish even just for a while?”

I shook my head.

“Don’t worry about her. I’ll take care of our Lisa. Now, you take care of yourself and your love life. There’s a reason why you’re asking the notebook back.”

I stared at the lime green notebook in my hand. It kept all my feelings for Terrence for long. At first, I didn’t know why I asked for this but I think I know now.

“You’re right. I will need this notebook to turn my life around.”

While I can avoid Bianca, I did and I got Esther and Lisa cover me as we went through the senior’s locker. I breathed in before I dropped my possibly last letter for Michael.

“My God Macy! You’re in the wrong locker! That’s Terrence’s!” Lisa shouted.

“What?! Oh my God!” I grabbed the handle to open it. Sure, it’s locked. Stupid Macy!

“Oh no, I’m dead!” I pulled on the handle once again, as if some miracle will happen.

“I’ve been putting the letters on the wrong locker all along. Oh my God, I’m screwed. More screwed than anyone. Terrence knew about the letters.”

I sighed and banged my head on the locker.

“Macy, you’re such a stupid girl.” Esther said faking her annoyance. Bianca pointed me to this locker, why did I believe her?

“Anyway, trying to open a locked locker is more stupid. I guess I just have to face the consequences later.” I said to myself. Esther and Lisa looked at each other, then on me. I banged my head again.

“I swear, one more time you bang your head we’ll pull your hair until every strand falls.” Lisa spoke quickly. I sort of want to see if she means it.

I banged my head on the locker again.

“I am so stupid.” I said, the two nodded, supportive friends they are. Then they both grabbed my hair. Great friends tho.

“Esther, I think I should be the one out of my mind. I’m the broken hearted here.” I heard Lisa whisper. Esther smiled back at her while I am still being dragged.

“I’m not crazy. And my hair, please.” I begged. Both of them just stared at me before letting me(my hair) go.

“What?” I asked.

“We know what you’re up to. Good luck.” Esther said, she didn’t sound encouraging at all.

“Will you be fine? Lisa has to go to her crying sessions soon. I hope I don’t need to listen to your woes too.” she added. I looked at Lisa who’s looking worried for me.

“Don’t worry, my cathartic therapy won’t include crying although I might because my scalp hurt.” I said rubbing my head. I assured her and forced a smile. They smiled back and walked away.

Now, I’m on my own and it’s time. I have a crazy trio, nevertheless I am really thankful that I have them.
