"Lillian..?"
"hey blake" she said in a low monotone voice.
"what are you doing here?"
"you know she's still my mom too." she spat
what has gotten into her? i wondered silently but soon got my answer.
"your dad wants you to come back home now young lady. you can't keep running away. and all for what? a silly boy?" mom said
"Braiden is not just a silly boy, mom! i love him and if dad doesn't want me to see him, then ill move back in with you so that i can."
"look, your dad and i may not see eye to eye on alot of things but if your dad doesnt want you seeing this kid then i don't either. there must be a good reason for him keeping you two away from one another."
"fine, then I'll just go live with braiden, he's got a house and a job, he can support me."
"how old is braiden?" mom asked
"22"
"no ma'am! no wonder your dad had a problem with it, you are 15 years old Lillian Hope. you have absolutely NO business being with someone that age."
"but i love him mom!" she whined
"no! now stop arguing with me, im calling you dad to come get you"
"ugh! i hate you!" she screamed and ran out the door.

i felt gentle hands land on my waist and a  light kiss was placed on my neck.
"what's going on down here? what's with all the yelling?" john asked sofly
"that would be the dramtic beast that is my 15 year old sister" i sighed
"come on, lets go lay back down, its not even 7 am yet"

When John and i got back to my bedroom, i got a bit light headed as i went to lay back down.
"you okay babe?"
"yeah, just a bit dizzy thats all. im fine" i said snuggling up next to john and falling back asleep.

When i woke up again i was greeted by the smell of bacon, biscuits and gravy. i grabbed my house coat and threw it on as i walked down stairs to see what kind of food was being prepared. i was shocked to see john cooking but also amazed.

"good morning beautiful."
"good morning" i smiled
"so i made you your favorites. its the least i could do after you and your mom made thanksgiving dinner last night and let me stay here."
"of course honey, you're welcomed here anytime" mom said
"yeah he is, you better keep this one." riley said munching on some bacon.
"you didn't have to do all this, really" i said
"but i wanted to. y'all deserve it. and once this baby is here im going to be at your house alot more so i might as well get comfortable now."
"well thank you so much."
"anything for you princess." he smiled kissing my head.
"what are you two doing today?" mom asked
"im going to go christmas shopping while they still have a few good black friday deals."
"oh okay, nice, is john going with you?"
"i don't know, hey babe. do you want to go Christmas shopping with me today?"
"yeah of course. you shouldn't be going out in crowds like that alone anyways, you're pregnant for goodness sake."

While i went upstairs and got ready, john went home to grab some clothes and take a shower. it's been so long since I've been out of the house and i am so excited to go shopping again.
i put on my favorite pair of Nike sweatpants and a thick hoodie along with fuzzy socks and my gloves. its only november in North Carolina but the temperature is already below freezing, causing slippery roads and snow flurries.

John pulled into the driveway and honked the horn signalling that he was ready to go. i grabbed my purse and my phone and headed out the door into the cold. i was hit with a wave of hot air as i climbed into John's truck.

"ready?" he smiled
"lets roll baby" i giggled

With the day winding down, john and i had gotten a few small inexpensive things for mom and riley and decided to make one last stop at Walmart. When we walked in, it wasn't very crowded which relieved me to say the least.

"im gonna go look at the fishing gear, you think you'll be okay by yourself?" john asked
"ill be fine, im gonna go to the toy aisle and look for valerie something from us."
"alright, if you need me call me." he said and kissed my lips before we split ways.

I was walking to the toy section when i found a beautiful Pioneer Woman set that would look great in my moms kitchen. i put it in the buggy and continued my stroll to the toys. i looked at baby dolls and Barbie dolls, stuffed animals and legos. i had no clue what to get valerie. I've met her all of 1 time and i don't know of anything she's into. i contemplated calling charlie and asking her but i was approached by a woman in her late 30s or early 40s.

"having a hard time deciding?" she asked
"well, kinda. i have niece, and i just met her yesterday she's 5. its a long story but i just don't have a clue what to buy for her for christmas. i don't know what she's into, what she likes, what she watches. nothing"
"i can tell you from expirience, they're not that hard to buy for. i have twin girls who are 6. they're a mess but at that age, they like about anything."
"i just want to get her the perfect gift though you know?"
"i understand completely. How far along are you?" she asked looking towards my small baby bump.
"oh, im about 14 and a half weeks. i find out the gender next month."
"congratulations! my name is Terry Allen." she said  with an outstretched arm
"Blake Allen." i said shaking her arm, noticing the familiarity in our last names
"i like the last name you got there." she winked
"you too."
"hey honey, there you are, I've been looking all over for you." a tall man with deep blue eyes and short dirty blonde hair said
"hello dear. i was just talking to this young lady and trying to help her pick out a toy for her niece."
"thats nice of you." the tall man said
"this is my husband Rick." she said
"nice to meet you." he said shaking my hand. but as i shook the mans hand i came to a shocking realization. no, it couldn't be, not today. i said to myself as the color drained from my face.

"Are you okay sweetie? you look a bit pale." Terry said to me as i took a step back.
"y-you're Rick Allen?"
"yeah, why is something wrong?"
i looked up and his eyes met mine with a dumbfound look.
"you're my father.. I'm Blake Allen."
