Marisol's POV- May 2018
Desi took a deep breath as she shut off the car.
"Thanks for coming"
She had met Chris' family last night but was not exactly ready to be alone with them.
"So what exactly do you want to talk with Cody about?"
I sighed.
"His sister showed up like two weeks ago" I mentioned.
"No way, what did she want to talk about?"
"She apologized," I said.
"I'm sure she only did it to stop feeling guilty"
She hummed.
"Cody acts like everything is fine, but he hasn't been sleeping well"
I looked at her.
"Chris spent the night last week, and Cody didn't talk to him for like 2 days"
Of course he did.
"Mari, he's ruining the mood"
I laughed.
"I'm sorry that it's ruining your sex life" I told her.
The sex had to be good if Desi was complaining about the lack of it.
"I'm hoping he will hear me out," I said.
"Didn't the semester end last week?"
She was right.
"Leo graduated, and well...family comes first" I stated.
It was al bullshit and Desi knew it.
"I see"
She clicked her tongue.
"Do you want to talk to him now, or after the game?"
Let's get it over with.
"Right now" I answered.
She nodded and looked down at her phone.
"Okay, let's go inside"
We got out of the car, and I watched as she slipped a jersey over the top she was wearing. By the looks of it, it was custom made.
"Chris should be waiting for us in front of the elevator"
He was, in fact, waiting for us, and it was cute to see their interaction. The PDA was kept at a minimum, and it was quite cute.
"Hey, Marisol"
"Hi, Chris" I greeted.
I accepted his hug.
"It's nice to see you"
He squeezed me before letting me go.
"Cody knows you are here, so let's not keep him waiting"
He hooked our arms and put his other arm around Desi.
"Thank for coming, it means a lot"
A smile appeared on both their faces as they leaned in for a peck.
"You two are gross"
Chris chuckled just as I made eye contact with Cody. He smiled at me as he stopped leaning on the wall and stood up straight.
"Hey, Marisol"
"Hi, Cody" I greeted back.
"So you wanted to talk?"
"Yes," I confirmed.
Cody nodded and gestured for me to follow him. He led us into an office, and even closed the door.
"How were your final exams?"
"Hard, but I passed them" I answered.
Straight A's.
"That's good to hear"
Let's just get to the point, I didn't want to leave Desi alone.
"I'm sorry for how I handled this a couple of weeks" I apologized.
He shook his head.
"No, school comes first and I'm sorry I stressed you out"
He took a deep breath.
"It was hard but I gave you the space you asked for"
"Thank you for that," I said.
"You finished school last week"
"Leo graduated" I brought up.
"I figured you'd be with family"
"I was hoping you could give me another chance," I told him.
He laughed.
"Marisol, I should be the one bringing that up not you"
He hesitated a bit.
"Can I?"
I nodded as I realized he wanted to hold my hand.
"I've liked you since I first met you at the coffee shop last Summer. I should have never let my mom make me go on a date with Zoey, but it happened and I ended up hurting your feelings. It happened though, and I can't change time, however, I could have handled my second chance better. I took it for granted and well since you brought it up, I hope you will let me have another chance. I'll probably fuck it up somehow, but I promise you that my family will not meddle. They are 100% happy that I found someone as smart, beautiful, and family oriented like you. My dad and little brother are excited to meet you, but of course, you will meet them when you're ready"
He smiled as I nodded and squeezed his hand.
"As much as I do enjoy your company, I should go back to Desi" I stated.
He chuckled.
"Yeah, she's probably a nervous wreck"
Most likely.
"Did you drive here?"
"No" I answered.
"Can I drop you off? I'd like to talk to your dad"
"You don't have to do that" I assured him.
"I know, but I want to"
Cody was not perfect, but he was pretty darn great.
