Marisol's POV- June 2018

"We're going to be late" I complained to Lucy.

She simply rolled her eyes.

"Calm your tits, we're good on time. Waze is telling me we will get there in 10 minutes"

I sighed.

"On time and with Acai bowls"

"I could have driven us here" I stated.

"There's a reason why I drove here"

"And what is that reason?" I wondered.

"I figured it'd make you feel less guilty when you ditch me after the game to go hang out with your boo"

"So you are mad" I noted.

She laughed.

"Of course I'm not mad that my bestfriend forgot about my birthday brunch and failed to show up to my birthday dinner"

It totally slipped my mind, and she was blaming Cody.

"It was not his fault, I honestly forgot," I told her.

She shrugged lightly and reached for her sunglasses. As she adjusted them on her face, I noticed her eyes were glassed up. The entire ride was painfully quiet. Once she parked the car and shut it off, I spoke up.

"Please be nice to him" I begged.

She scoffed.

"You know very well he's still treading on thin ice with me"

"He got you this ticket" I reminded her.

And I immediately regretted it.

"I'll pay him back"

She got out of the car and slammed the door shut.

"Fuck" I mumbled.

I got out of the car and sighed when I saw Cody was making his way over. He immediately grinned at Lucy. Before he could even greet her, she spoke up.

"How much was the ticket?"

His eyebrows furrowed.

"It's on the house, think of it as your birthday gift"

He frowned and glanced at me as she wiped her cheek.

"Can I get the ticket? I just want to go to my seat"

She took the ticket and looked at the price value on the bottom.

"Thank you, I'll pay you back. I don't want to owe you or her anything"

Once she was gone, he spoke up.

"What's going on with you two?"

"We had an argument" I disclosed.

"Did you two fight because of me?"

I shook my head.

"You missed her party because of me"

"I honestly forgot about her party, but I'll make it up to her," I told him.

"You also forgot her birthday"

Whose side was he on?

"We both know she doesn't want you to make it up to her"

She wanted a legit apology.

"You're her bestfriend, the closest thing she has to an actual sibling and you technically ditched her to spend time with a guy who in her eyes has been nothing but a dick to you"

If he phrased it that way.

"She kinda has every right to be mad"

He gave me a quick peck.

"We can take her out to dinner?"

I smiled.

"Cody, she despises you" I reminded her.

"She just has to get to know me"

"I'll ask her" I promised.

"Okay, I'll see you after the game?"

I nodded and gave him one more peck before making my way up to my seat. Lucy was at her seat, eating her acai bowl. I made my way over and took a seat next to her.

"I'm sorry" I apologized.

She snorted.

"For?"

"I know how much family and promises mean to you, I'm sorry I forgot to take you out to breakfast as I had promised. I am so sorry I did not show up to your birthday party when Cody asked me to join him on the road trip your party completely slipped my mind" I told her.

She hummed.

"What is it you always say, gashes before 'staches?" I asked.

She stifled a giggle and did her best to cover up the sound with a cough.

"I'm sorry, I will make it up to you" I assured her.

"You don't need to do that"

She shrugged as she continued,

"I kinda overreacted. I just have to accept that things are different now that you have a boyfriend"

And just like that, she dropped the conversation. Her phone chimed and she laughed.

"No fucking way"

Before I could ask why she had laughed, a voice spoke up.

"Well hello there strangers"

Lucy squealed as she stood up and hugged Sabina.

"What are you doing here?"

Sabina laughed.

"I'm celebrating Father's day with my dad a week early"

I stood up and greeted Sabina with a hug.

"It's nice to see you two"

So who was Sabina? She was the girlfriend of Adrian, Lucy's 'other' bestfriend.

"What are you two doing after the game?"

Lucy spoke up,

"I'm sure Cody has something planned with Mari, but I'm free"

Sabina smiled.

"Do you want to join my dad and I for dinner? He's making lasagna"

She nodded.

"I'll meet you at your place,"

"Awesome, see you then!"

And just like that, Sabina was gone. I didn't realize I was glaring until Lucy pointed it out.

"If looks could kill"

I rolled my eyes and leaned back.

"No need to worry, she's already got a bestfriend and you happen to know her"

Small world, her bestfriend, Stevie was my classmate.

"I'm not worrying," I told her.

She hummed.

"However, her boyfriend can take your title"

She cackled when I looked at her.

"Not funny" I noted.

"It's fucking hilarious"
