My room is the color blue, a soft and gentle blue.
My drawings that I have made are hung on one of my walls, with the other ones being vacant with the exception of the occasional picture frame.
My bedspread has a soft texture to it, with black and white chevron.
My dresser is white with different stickers on it that I have received over the year that I’ve lived here. My clock is...
"BEEEEPPPP!!! BEEEPPPPPP!!!" Ugh it's the stupid alarm clock that wakes me up at 7 in the damn morning to get ready for work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm... I roll out of bed because I know the consequences of my paycheck for being late and since it's Friday...
I trudge into the bathroom, throw on my light blue Angels Café shirt, white jean shorts, light blue vans, and my white visor cap for work.
I then wash my face and apply light makeup with mascara.
7:45. Ok good I have enough time to drive. I grab my purse, quickly lock the door, and jump inside of my old and broke down green Saturn.
10 minutes later…
I pull into the employee parking area and walk happily towards the restaurant because I have 5 minutes to spare :).
Right before I stroll into my workplace, something caught my attention.
I glance to the right and see a boy about my age getting cornered by 3 other boys and I could hear them speaking, "No one is here to protect you now, little shit!" said the bulkier guy. The skinny tall one said "You're the fruitiest kid in school! No wonder all of the guys hate you! Just because you had a girlfriend doesn't mean anything!"
I'm getting more and more pissed with every. single. word. I can't handle it; I'm thinking about how Jake had to deal with just because he was nice to every person he met.
I'm fuming and I sprint over there ready to beat the living hell out of each one of those guys. I slow down and walk up behind the bulky guy and gently tap his shoulder.
He turns around, smiles at me and says, "hey good looking, wanna get a smoothie after I'm done with this twerp?" I could swear my face was red as hell and as soon as his smile changed into a look of fear, I kicked him in the crotch and he fell on his side, laying in fetal position.
I looked at the other 2 guys and they just backed off and ran away, dragging the one I kicked with them. So I took the opportunity and took the victim with me to Angels Café.
"What's your name? I'm Elizabeth" I ask the young boy while I introduced myself.
"My name is Alex and thank you for saving me back there" he said while flashing an adorable smile. "If you want I can drive you home before I clock in or you can do whatever." I reply before we sit on a bench in front of my job. I don't care how late I am as long as he is safe.
"Oh it's fine, I can get a ride from my friend Austin, maybe I'll convince him for our crew to have lunch here so they can meet the person who saved my life" Alex says with a glow in his eyes.
"Haha cool, I would like to meet your crew and it would be cool to wait someone I know. Here's my number and you can text me to reserve a table for you and your friends."
I give him my number on a paper and he quickly types it into his phone.
"Again thank you so much for that help and I'll be sure to text you :)" and with that he walks off and calls someone, I'm assuming his friend Austin to pick him up.
I walk into work and gaze at the clock which read 8:17am. Right before I clock in, my boss, Rosy, stops me and pulls me into her office. I uneasily sit down in front of her desk and prepare for the lecture to take place.
"Again Elizabeth? This has been the second time you've been late to work. The first time your excuse was "oh my gosh sorry Rosy, my car broke down, I am really sorry." What is the excuse this time? And it better be a pretty good excuse too."
I met her intimidating gaze and took in the view of her aging skin with thin black hair. "Rosy, I was 5 minutes early and about to walk in but I stopped because I saw a boy getting bullied and I couldn't bear the sight. It reminded me of my brother, I had to do something before the situation escalated any further."
After I finished stating what happened, for the first time I can remember while working here, Rosys' hardened eyes changed to a softened expression and she talked more calmly than ever. "This will only be a warning and I won't cut anything from your paycheck... just make sure you're not late again and thank you for being one of those few decent people in the world.."
No more words were exchanged and we both awkwardly walked out of the office and I clocked in. That was kind of strange but I'm not going to ask anything because I don't want to ruin today.
3:00pm: My phone vibrated so I took a bathroom break to check who texted me.
~unknown number (probably Alex)~
-Hey it's Alex, can the crew and I stop by to eat at 4:30?? If so, table for 5 because Austins mom is gonna join us, thank you :)
~Elizabeth~
-Ya thats cool! I'll get y'all a table reserved and I'll be glad to wait the table for you :)
~Alex~
- Ok thanks see you soon! :)
Now I have something to look forward to: some new friends since I don't have any besides my best friend Victoria. I'm not really a social person, but hey, I'm working on it since I work at a restaurant where you have to talk to people for a living.
