Lea's POV:

I woke up feeling completely refreshed. There was no beeping noises to irritate me.

I looked down and saw the brace on my left hand was completely gone, so was the cast on my right arm.

I frowned and flexed my hand. No pain. Same thing with my arm. No pain at all.

Fuck. How long have I been out this time?

I leaned my head back against the pillow and shut my eyes.

Just then I smelled something. It smelled like,

Roses and mint chocolates.

That's weird. I opened my eyes and watching Archer walk in.

He looked at me with excited eyes.

"Hi sleeping beauty. Ready to go home today.", he asked.

I blinked rapidly. Home? Today? Oh fuck, how long was I out for?

"Three weeks again.", Archer said and I looked at him confused. I'm sure I hadn't said anything.

"Come on. Let's get you out of bed. Your mom will be here at any second.", he said and touched my arm.

As soon as his skin touched mine, it feeled like an electric current flowing through my whole body.

What the fuck was that?

"Mate", Archer whispered with a grin and I looked at him, totally confused.

What the fuck was he on about? Had he lost his sanity while I was unconscious this time?

I shook my head to clear my thoughts and slowly sat up.

No pain anywhere, that's weird.

I swing my legs off the bed and Archer helped me to stand up.

There was a slight pain in my sides, but it wasn't that bad. I didn't trust it to last though.

Just then my mom walked in and hugged me tightly.

I groaned in pain. My mom immediately let go and stepped back, keeping her grip on my hands instead.

"You have excellent timing, hun.", she said.

I frowned for the millionth time today. What the fuck was she going on about now?

She must have noticed my confusion, because she said,

"Tomorrow's your birthday."

Fuck. I've forgotten about that.

"Why's she so quiet? Is she okay?", my mom asked, concerned.

"You okay, Lea?", Archer asked, searching my face.

"I'm fine. Just fucking confused.", I said.

"We'll talk on the way home, but first. I brought you some clothes. Get dressed while Archer and I talk outside.", my mom said while handing me a bag.

I nodded and they left. As soon as they were out, I fell back on the bed.

My legs felt pretty weak from not moving for nearly six weeks.

I got dressed slowly and then stood up. I didn't feel too unstable now.

There was a knock and my mom came in.

She quickly helped me to the car. Once we were inside, I asked,

"Mom, could we please go get something to eat? I'm starving."

She just laughed and nodded, but I saw that something was bothering her.

"What's wrong, mom? You look worried.", I said.

She just shrugged, but said nothing.

We'd already reached the town's only restaurant by then.

We ordered some soup and waited for our food.

I stared out the window at the cloudy sky outside. My mom did the same.

Her expression became more wary and worried as the time passed.

Just as I was about to ask her again what was bothering her, our food showed up.

"Lea, there's something I've been meaning to tell you for a while.", my mom said while sipping some of her soup.

I looked at her as I ate my soup. It was burning my mouth and throat, but I was so hungry that it didn't matter.

"What's up, Mom?", I asked.

"Well... Umm... You see, there's something that you need to know about your dad.", she said.

I frowned. What the hell was she talking about?

I finished my soup and pushed the soup bowl away.

Then I crossed my arms and looked at her.

It felt weird to be sitting here without any cast on my arm and brace on my hand.

I waited for her to continue and she sighed. She pushed her food away and stood.

"Let's go home.",  she said.

I said nothing. I just sat there with my arms crossed, waiting.

After a minute she sat down again and looked at me.

"He... well... isn't really your dad."

And you get a cliffhanger. Haha. Thoughts, comments and predictions? Till next time.✌
