Archer's POV:

"Lea, come on, wake up! Wake up, please!", I yelled, shaking her.

I wasn't going to lose her. I just wasn't. I couldn't lose her.

"Archer, we need to get her to the pack doctor. She's still alive. She's barely clinging to her life though.", my dad said.

My brave Lea was still fighting. I couldn't believe it.

I nodded to him and picked Lea up from the ground, a blanket draped over her limp body.

"Lea, baby, if you can hear me, please hold on. I'll get you to the doctor as soon as I can. Just please hold on. I love you so much. Please don't leave me. Stay with me, please.", I said to her as I ran.

She weighted next to nothing to me, so her weight made no difference to my speed.

My dad must've warned the pack doc, because he was already waiting for me there.

He tried to take Lea from my arms, but I snarled at him and took Lea to the hospital room myself.

I laid her down carefully on one of the beds and watched as the doctor started working on her.

She was so pale, like the life was already gone.

I should've gotten there sooner. I should've gone with her.

I turned away from her and ran out of the house.

I headed to the western perimeter and shifted.

I knew exactly where I wanted to go.

I'd found a few hidden caves in the mountains when I was younger. Nobody else, except my dad and I, knew of their existence.

I made my body ran faster, further away from Lea's broken and bruised body.

The picture was still stuck in my head though. I just couldn't seem to get rid of it.

My beautiful Lea laying there on the ground, her face covered in deep gashes, her side and shoulder ripped open.

She had been so brave to try and fight the rogues off to save everyone else. She'd even made sure to get Irus' pups to safety first.

I finally reached the caves and sank down to the ground, sobs breaking through.

I shifted back and huddled into the deepest, darkest corner of the cave and then let the sobs and pain have me.

I should've protected her. I should've known the rogues would attack again.

I was going to lose her to the rogues too, just like my mom.

My wolf whimpered, feeling my pain. The pain of a prospect without his mate.

The tears ran freely from my eyes as I thought of everything I should've done to protect her.

There were still so many things that I'd still wanted to tell her, that I'd still to share with her.

"Archer? You in here?", a voice called.

It was my dad. Of course he'd know where to find me.

I wiped the tears away and looked at him.

"We have trouble. Humans have been spotted by the entrance. Looks like Luca and a few mates, by the looks of things.", my dad said.

"What?"

Luca wasn't the outdoorsy type of guy. What the fuck was he doing here?

Then it clicked, he must've followed us and now wanted to see for himself what was going on.

I stood up as my dad handed me some shorts and a shirt.

I got dressed and walked with him. I knew what this meant.

We were moving again. I wondered where we were moving.

Hopefully it was somewhere where Lea and I could live peacefully and worry free.

Somewhere that we could one day raise pups of our own without fear.

I hoped that Lea could just keep fighting a little longer, so that she could heal again.

When- I refused to think if -she woke up, I hope we could finally have a normal life.
