Taken (Voltron Fanfic)

Taken

(Time period-- a year after the Paladins returned to Earth. Coran and Sam Holt have created a new Castle of Lions and the Galra empire has returned for revenge on Voltron. Pidge has grown her hair out and wears it in a ponytail like she used to. Please note that this is an AU where season 8 never really happened. I thought this might be important background knowledge, just in case.)   ;) ^_^

 Pidge and Shiro have been captured from a battle with the Galra. They've been prisoners for a few weeks now. Their team had to return to the Castle of Lions to regroup and create a rescue mission.  Currently, the Galra are testing the two Paladins to see their strengths, weaknesses, and gain information on the human race. 

Pidge and Shiro are in a cell with their dark prison uniforms and hands bound with cuffs. Two guards walk into the cell, requesting the Green Paladin. 

"Shiro, I... I don't know if I'll ever see you again," Pidge says with tears in her eyes. He holds onto her and replies, "Don't worry. I won't let them take you."

 One of the guards glares and demands Pidge to come with him, but she remains frozen. Finally, the Glara storms up to her and grabs her roughly by the arm. Shiro keeps his grip and pulls Pidge back. Then he kicks the guard in the stomach. His mechanical arm has a special sort of cuff that prevents it from working, so fighting is much more difficult. The second guard comes up behind Shiro and wrestles his arms away from a struggling Pidge.

 Shiro battles with the Galra, but the first guard has already begun to drag Pidge out of the room. 

"Katie!" he yells. 

The girl kicks against the guard and screams for Shiro, but has already been pulled out the cell door. The guard knees her in the stomach to get her to quit  fighting, and she doubles over in pain.  

Shiro is shoved against a wall and then restrained as he watches Pidge get taken away. He shouts at the guard and struggles, but it is already too late. 

In the hallway, Pidge knows what will happen to her if she stays on the Galra ship. 

I've got to get away from here,  she thinks as she holds her aching stomach. Who knows what they'll do to us in revenge for killing their leader. 

She is taken to a waiting area with a few guards surrounding her. A large door slides open and light pours over her shivering body. 

Pidge steps into a large arena with Galra soldiers sitting in seats above and all around her. They are jeering and shouting, getting riled up for a battle. A huge, monster-like Glara gladiator is in the arena, waiting for her. A tall pole the size of a thick tree is in the center. There are chains hanging down from it and she assumes that it's probably a place to torture prisoners. 

The gladiator charges toward Pidge and she runs, wishing she had her bayard with her. They battle around the arena, but Pidge knows she won't last long without a plan to take the Galra down. She sees a spot on the ground by the large pole that gives her an idea. It is a weak spot, so if the gladiator hits his weapon there, it will most likely get stuck. Then she'll be able to buy some time.   

Pidge runs to the pole and the gladiator hits where the weak spot is. Sure enough, his large weapon gets stuck in the ground and he tries to pull it out, flustered. Pidge climbs up the pole (using the chains) and then pushes off toward her opponent. Her leg swings around in a solid kick to his face that causes him to lose his balance and tumble over for a minute. 

When she falls back to the ground, she pauses a moment too long as the gladiator, now enraged, swipes her up in his giant hand and squeezes the air out of her. Then he stomps Pidge into the dirt and slashes a large "x" into her arm with a jagged knife. 

 He picks her back up and seethes, "You have failed."

Then the gladiator chucks her as hard as he can across the arena and into the wall, where a distinct crack is heard, and she crumples to the ground. 

Meanwhile, Shiro is still in the cell, straining to see out the small window and watching this scene unfold  on the screen of a guard's device. 

"Pidge! No!" he yells. 

The guards snicker. Shiro is about ready to punch something... or someone. One of the Galra walks in and requests him. He obliges, but only because he has a plan.  

Once he is taken to the arena, Shiro immediately scans the room for Pidge. Before he can spot her, the gladiator charges at him and he is forced to fight. During the middle of his battle, he tricks his attacker into punching the cuff on his arm. This makes it break and fall to the ground in pieces. 

His arm activates and he gives the gladiator a good punch. Shiro uses his hand to wack the Galra in the throat and leave him gasping for air. During this time, he finds Pidge and cradles her in his arms. 

"Oh no... Katie... " He sees the seriousness of her injuries and realizes she might not make it off of the ship alive. 

Shiro escapes the arena, and is flanked by guards in the hallways. He carries Pidge in his normal arm while using his other to slash at his oppressors. He runs down a corridor and turns a corner, running right into a Galra. He flies back and hits the ground, dropping Pidge. Shiro is knocked out by an oncoming guard and dragged away.

First chapter! I can't believe it! This is my first time using Wattpad so please don't judge any mistakes I make. Sorry that this chapter was so crappy. I'll try and make the next ones better. Thanks guys! There's much more to come.
