11:45am, Cafeteria, Demigods
"Check it out! It's that Elle Chick." Ivory pointed at a practically empty table where Elle was sitting across from Violet. Loui nodded.
"Yeah, wonder why she's sitting with her though." Adam frowned as the trio moved toward the table.
"With who?" Loui shot him a look.
"You'll see." Elle glanced up from her phone and noticed them. Ivory smiled at her as she sat down next to her, Loui quickly sitting down next to Ivory. Adam moved around the table and sat next to Violet.
"Hey. Ivory, right?" Elle asked, scooting her backpack over so the other girl would have more room. Ivory nodded.
"Yep!" Elle nodded, shooting a look across the table at Adam.
"And you are?" Violet asked, looking down at Adam. Adam frowned slightly at the tinge of disgust in Violet's voice.
"Adam Blake. Son of Ares." Violet raised her eyebrows.
"Ares, huh. Interesting." She looked back down at her phone while Adam looked between her and the other three girls.
"Is that a good or bad thing?" Ivory and Elle shrugged, and Loui was to busy inputting her food order in the table's electronic menu to pay any attention to the situation.
"I see you've met Violet." Natasha commented as she slid into the seat next to Adam. Violet looked up at her voice and smirked.
"Well, if it isn't the daughter of Aphrodite." Natasha rolled her eyes at the older girl and turned to face the three girls across the table from her.
"I'm Natasha Parker. I'm a daughter of Aphrodite." She waved a hand vaguely toward Violet. "Clearly." Ivory introduced herself then nudged Loui in the ribs.
"Say hi." She hissed to the blonde demigod but Loui swatted her arm, bouncing up on her seat, trying to see the kitchen.
"Hellos can wait. I'm starving." Ivory frowned.
"How did you even order?" Loui tossed a small pamphlet to Ivory, not taking her eyes off the kitchen.
"They sent that to all new students. It's the only thing I bothered to memorize." Ivory threw her hands in the air.
"Oh course! You're impossible!" Elle sneaked the pamphlet away from Ivory and began to full out her order.
"Can I see that after you?" Adam asked. Elle nodded, finishing her order and passing the pamphlet to the other side of the table. Ivory faced Elle.
"How's your class going? You're taking Italian right?" Elle nodded, fidgeting with her crystal ball necklace.
"Yeah, with Mister Di Angelo. It's pretty good so far. It'll be interesting to learn different spell words in a different language." Natasha and Adam looked up from the menu selection.
"Spells?" Natasha asked, sending in her menu and switching off her section of the table. Elle nodded.
"Daughter of Hecate." She explained and the demigods exchanged impressed glances.
"Care to demonstrate?" Violet prompted, putting her phone down and staring levely at Elle. Elle blushed.
"I don't know, I don't think we're allowed to use our powers inside school buildings."
"Oh come on." Violet rolled her eyes and leaned further across the table. "They just say that to make the normal people like Hunters or Tributes feel safer. It's not an actual rule." Elle glanced around the cafeteria and sighed.
"Fine." She scooted forward on her sit and put her hands flat on the table top. The promise of magic managed to pull Loui's eyes away from the kitchen and she joined the demigods in watching Elle. Elle shut her eyes and took a deep breath. She was silent for a few moments then she opened her eyes, which were pure white and whispered, "Urbs Novum Eboracum." The scenery around the six demigods rippled and a wall of white wrapped around them until they appeared to be sitting on the air, several feet above New York City. Loui squeaked and grabbed Ivory, looking down at the drop to the pavement.
"Are we actually here?" Natasha asked, looking around. Elle shook her head, eyes still blank white.
"No. It's just an illusion. We're still sitting in the cafeteria. I can see both. Like a crocodile, I can see the cafeteria and New York at the same time. But if you didn't know that I'd cast the illusion, you wouldn't be able to tell." Adam frowned.
"I think we would. I mean, we're all still sitting and we're in the air. We're not falling or anything so," Elle regarded him before flicking her wrist. Suddenly, the other five demigods got the horrible sensation that they were falling the fake New York streets were rushing up to meet them. Then Elle snapped and the vision vanished. They were all sitting at the table again and everyone's food had arrived. "That was a little uncalled for." Adam muttered, color rising to his face. Elle grinned, her eyes back to grey-blue.
"Sure it was."
"That was impressive!" Ivory gushed. Violet nodded her head.
"Yeah. But you said that you couldn't wait to learn spells in a different language. But you spoke in Latin." Elle shrugged, pulling her sushi toward her.
"I know how to say a few words in Latin and Ancient Greek but not a lot. Spells are a more powerful if spoke in latin and greek but english still works."
"Impressive." Miss Chase said from behind Loui. Loui choked on her pizza and Ivory patted her back while she coughed. "Don't be so worried. I'm just here to give you your roommate sheets." She handed a piece of paper to each person at the table then moved to the next table.
"Did we really need this?" Ivory asked, looking over at Loui, who was still coughing.
"Looks like we're roommates." Natasha stated, her eyes finding Elle's, who nodded. "Anything I should know about living with you?" She asked.
"Well... I have a dog." Elle mumbled. Natasha's eyes lit up.
"Really?" Elle nodded.
"Yeah. Husky named Misty." Natasha smiled.
"I have a cat named Bones. He has a bit of an attitude problem, but he's not bad for a cat." Natasha turned to Adam. "Who did you get?"
"Me." Violet said, looking down at her paper. Adam nodded, not looking pleased and based on Violet's face, the feeling was mutual. "Oh well. I have a snake and don't touch my stuff." Violet informed, scooping up her lunch and swinging her back onto her back. "It was interesting to see your powers." She addressed Elle then turned and strutted away.
"I bet she's gonna be a fun roommate." Natasha said, turning to her food. Adam scowled.
"Yeah. Wonder how she's going to react to Blitz."
"Who's Blitz?" Loui asked with a mouthful of food. Adam shot her a grin.
"My metal boar." All of the girls stared at him.
"You have... a metal... boar?" Natasha asked carefully. Adam nodded, confused by their faces.
"Yeah. It's not that weird, I mean, she has a fish named Jim Bob the Ninja fish." Adam pointed at Loui and Loui rolled her eyes.
"But Jim Bob can't do anything. You have a metal boar."
"And?" Adam looked at all of them. "It's seriously not that weird."
"If you say so." Natasha muttered, shooting a look at Elle, who ducked her head to hide her laughter. Adam rolled his eyes.
"Fine, I bet five dracema, that by the end of the year, one of you will have a weirder pet."
