it was exhilarating working with newt. staying with the old man in his house with all the animals was amazing. he was full of love for his animals, and so was she. she had learnt so much from him in the past three weeks. however, today the two were taking the time to enjoy themselves, his wife, porpentina, queenie, his sister in law, and jacob, queenie's husband, had joined them.

"so dearie, you have a special man in your life? i keep seeing flashes of red hair and freckles." queenie said coyly, watching as kate's face flushed red.

"hey how about you invite him over next week and i'll bake some muffins and we can-"

a screeching sound echoed through the facility. the older four were slightly confused, "how did a screech owl get in?" newt asked.

kate turned and let out a laugh as the owl flew down. "it's hermes!" the screech owl landed on her lap, nuzzling her affectionately. she took the letter from him, placing it on the table. she continued playing with hermes, deciding on reading the letter later.

"that from him?" newt hummed. "yeah." she grinned, feeling shy and fluttery within.

it was a bloody invite to eat. to eat! all that was written was, "i'll pick you up at seven, dress in something you can move around in."

so at six fifty she waited at the door, and right on the dot, percy apparated at seven. she smiled, moving forward to hug him. "have her back by ten thirty, we're going to groom pim!" newt called out.

"who is pim?"

"kelpie."

kate let out a squeal at the sight of it. "a muggle carnival?" she exclaimed. "yes." percy smiled. kate moved to hug him before she faltered. "what's wrong?"

"if my parents knew i was hanging around in a muggle place they'd kill me." kate admitted. "well then," percy said in a lowered tone, leaning in towards her, "don't tell them. you're doing the same with us anyway." kate gave him a small grin before moving in to kiss him.

the two lovers moved through the carnival, kate holding a cotton candy and percy holding the stuffed teddy bear she had won for him —she had to take over in the shooting game, he was absolutely terrible at it really.

"well it is ten twenty." kate said, "can we go for one more ride?" percy smiled at her, "well what ride would you like to go on?" kate scanned the area, "that one." she pointed.

"AHHH THIS WAS A MISTAKE!"

"NO ITS NOT!"

"that was fun."

"that's bullshit."

"it was fun percy, not just the crazy ride. i enjoy being around you."

percy's heart let out a little flutter, feeling both pleased and nervous, he leaned in for a kiss, which kate gladly returned, her hands moving to his curly hair and his to her waist. his hands moved down slowly to the small of her back then down-

"hands above the equator young man."

the two jumped apart blushing, percy unfortunately tripping and landing on his butt. porpentina let out a little laugh, clasping her hands over her mouth as kate moved to help her boyfriend up.

"i'd better go help groom pim." kate stammered out, tripping over her words as porpentina crossed her arms, waiting expectantly. "your boyfriend can come watch if he'd like." porpentina smiled.

"no i really must be going really i-" the already flustered boy tried. "nonsense, you won't regret watching really, come on."

"THAT WAS AMAZING!" percy yelled as kate climbed out of the water. next to him, newt and porpentina's grandson, rolf, aldo cheered and clapped.

kate smiled, laughing at the two who were cheering madly. so this was what it was like to be happy.

it felt amazing.
